Ace- Seed tape can even be purchased at (B)Lowes it's designed to make planting tiny seeds easier. It is in really fine paper tape, you roll off a strip and then plant it about 1" deep. Viola you're done.

Ferry Morse has a very good product, most places that sell seeds have it. Worse case scenario if you're up for a Trip to Williston go to Gardeners Supply Co.

ETA: Do NOT plant tomatoes yet... NO NO NO... not until after memorial day for us. They are (as well as peppers and Eggplants) Hot weather crops.

and there is the last of my stupid info for the evening.

SO NOT stupid information!!! Very valuable info. Thank you so much for it!!!

We had horses up until I was about 35. My very last horse was a Morgan/quarter horse cross and just the nicest girl! I can't ride anymore because knee replacements don't allow your legs to bend the right way and stresses the joint.

Hope you aren't too sore in the morning! If I had a nickel for every time I got dumped I'd be rich now!

I love fruit and veggie gardens! This weekend was just perfect gardening weather! What kind of grape did you put in?

Our older table grapevine has tiny pre-grapelets already and I'm putting in a Mortenson bunch grape 'cause they are supposed to do well in Houston. We had watermelons and muskmelons last year, but don't have room this year. We only have various tomatoes, bell and serrano peppers and herbs this year. Just LOVE fresh basil and cilantro and french cooking herbs! Would love an eggplant, squash and zucchini but DH doesn't do those.

Do you have to cover your veggies esp. tomatoes w/ bird netting? I'm trying to figure out the best way to do that. Last year after the birds discovered the tomatoes they probably ruined about 30% of 'em. Trying to make a huge cage over the tomatoes and then drape the netting and weight it with lengths of rebar so the squirrels won't crawl under it. The inderterminate vines get so darn big, though - we had 6 ft tall tomato plants. Probably shouldn't have so many bird feeders to attract them into the yard......but....you know.....

My neighbor put in several rows of sweet corn and I'm already plotting on trading eggs for fresh ears of corn!

I know you sniping crowd can all be found here so:

THANK YOU FOR LETTING ME WIN!!!!!

I had a disaster on the home front so I didn't get to tote the netbook around. My aunt was very recently diagnosed with an odd version of leukemia and she died Friday. It was super fast once a diagnosis was made. I'm still a little shocked. She had been sick forever but for some reason no one could figure out why. I'm sure she is happy where she is now...no more hospital rooms or nursing homes. She got to die at home like she wished with what dignity she could manage. Puts things in perspective.

Hoppy- these are the last eggs for the season for me so I am hoping for a great hatch. PS that means I will lurk the auctions and of course add my 2 cents but will have to wait for next spring to let my shark teeth grow.

I really enjoy ya'll.

Oh man, I'm sorry to hear about your aunt! My condolences.

On a happier note, I can send you a little rawhide chew toy for you to work on while your teeth come in.

Raw hide toy....um you know those stay in your intestines forever right???

Do a pig's ear and I'll be all over it.......YUM PORK!!!

Thanks for the condolences. She is in a much better place now. She was getting really frail and pitiful there at the end. I think I would rather be brain mushy and have a good body then have a crappy body and be totally aware. She was real aggravated at the world last week and gave the sharp edge of her tongue to most of us. She went ahead and made her funeral arrangements that week and told us to get over ourselves. Feisty old lady!!

Well, Patty's OEs have finished hatching. 11 out of 21 hatched, which I guess is a mediocre hatch rate. I opened the rest and 4 were fully formed but dead - I think the humidity got too high, and 6 had ruptured yolks. None of the nice blue eggs hatched.

BUT, I have 11 very nice little OEs running around the brooder! A couple don't look like they are going to be barred and will be interesting to see how they feather out! They are a lovely rich brownish color.

This isn't everybody but it is the most I could get with one shot.
