thanks all, I'm done being angry, now its cash only- those eggs were a trade and I know who got the better deal. my 1 silkie chick has 4 toes so even that is a DQ. we are going to a poultry show in 2 weeks, I may just have to seek out a chicks.

Thanks, Mary.

Another question. My 2 are insanely possessed with the water. They empty a quart a day, so I have to change the shavings all the time. Seems like they drop shavings in there, then eat them. And they splash around and make a mess. Kindof like doing the "scratch scratch" thing, only in water, even a chick waterer! Have you seen this?

Ok can I rant now??? Today was day 24 with a full very bator! 2 out of 19 splits hatched 2!!! I dove in just now and all made it to lockdown and all were shrink wrapped or quit id say day 15ish???
All turkey eggs gone! all quitters none made it:-( Im sorry Nava Iwas hoping for a good picture for you--Now I have to call my friend and tell her I suck at incubating:-( They were her eggs... the last call duck egg in there nothing! now I had splash cochin in there too-none made it -except 1 is in there on day 24 I pipped into it and it was internally pipped-so I wrapped it in a soaking wet warm washcloth and put it back in-

grand tally
2 split silkie chicks 3 days old and
1 splash/blue cochin chick still in egg

all other eggs are in garbage

these were my chickenstock chicks! I think God gave me a heads up in what I can and cannot handle! Bator is going away when the chick decides what it wants to do:-(

I candled my broody's today too-one broody is sitting on the very last call duck egg and I saw it moving!!!!! it should hatch Friday/Sat
4 splash Amaracaunas looked good but the eggs were dark so well see
2 tester turkey eggs for my friend from her birds-look great

all look good for this week!

the other broody is sitting on orps-10 eggs down to 2!

Did I tell you guys the other day when it was 75 for the first time in weeks-both broodies got off their nests-I watched as I was planting ( did you hear that Luvins? PLANTING veggies!!!) 35 minutes off their nests and then I went hunting! I had to catch them and plop them back on their nests! they did NOT want to go back-once back on they never moved ...phew and so close to the end-I am putting a broody hen in a big brooder box with her eggs before I leave to make sure NOTHING goes wrong while Im gone for 3 days-

Yah if I ever do the broody thing again (and myrna has managed to pluck her belly bald) I will totally seperate them and put them on lockdown...

Well, I don't think I'll ever catch up on what's been happening. So sorry, Nat, for the hatch results, and Hoppy for your situation with the eggs. Not sure I followed it as I've skimmed back some but haven't got a good handle on what's going on here.

I have 4 eggs left of the 15 SF's in the bator. 7 of the 8 LF SF's were clear. The only other LF one quit I think in the first few days. 4 of the bantam SF's quit around day 8 or so. The other 4 bantams look good.

Not sure what's next. Want to load it up and try again. But my daughter is running low grade fevers again, so I am afraid to. We'll see. Son is helping me convert the huge rabbit hutch we have into a sizzle coop tomorrow. We bought the things for that today. Talked to my father in law. He agreed to another run behind the one we have now. That will be an SF pen. The pen I have now will be a mixed pen. Probably can get another pen, and I am hoping for an Ameracauna/Maran pen to work on some olives of my own.

Found a home for 4 of my roos! WoooHoooo. They will be moving this week.

Anybody know, on Sizzles, if they have really long, unevenly feathered wings, is that boys or girls? Some do and some don't. And believe it or not, at 8 days old, I have a baby Sizzle whose come is getting bright pink. No doubt on that one, huh??

On a totally happy note: Of the three SF's I've ended up with so far out of 30 eggs (not good, huh:/), I have two hens and one roo. Very obvious with all three as they are about 3 weeks old now. That's a happy happy thing for me.

Missed talking with y'all.

Hoppy -did you say you were going to chickenstock????

it's not a chickenstock, it's a poultry show with a swap. I will be there with byc products and some chicks. my rooster that I was going to show, got beat up by my new rooster (which I have just sold since they were fighting through a fence- now they both look like crap)
it's always are great turnout so i should be able to sell any showgirls (sorry nava, i am not convinced)
sorry to hear about your chicks sonew.
