Hey, Nat. I just went back and read your thread, I wish I would have seen it sooner if nothing else just to give you a virtual hug.

Been there, almost 2 years post bankruptcy now. I have worked full time since I was 16, raising 7 kids and went to school full time. I paid my bills on time and thought we had it all together. Then my husband's towing business went under 5 years ago (when the cost of diesel and insurance skyrocketed). My husband took a full time job and we started to dig our way out. Then my son became very ill, causing us to have to make the choice of one of us staying home with him full time. My husband was the choice as my insurance paid for his medical needs and we needed our insurance. Half of our income was gone in a blink. Bankruptcy soon became the only answer for our families survival.

The past 2 and a half years have been interesting to say the least. My husband is still not working, and our family depends solely on my income. Eating McDonald's is a luxury now days.

We started raising chickens as a way he could make a few dollars and be home for our son. Somehow it has actually drawn us together and given us a common interest besides surviving and if our son is having a "good" day or "bad" day. Its amazing how exhausting life can be sometimes.

This place, this thread in particular, has been a great place to runaway too. Often I just read as I can usually only get on late in the evening (west coast time), and all are asleep. If you need anything feel free to pm me. I have learned along time ago, that until you walk a mile in a persons shoes.....you can fill in the rest.

Lots of hugs and good thoughts to you. Thank God you still have your family- as in the end, they are who is important.

oh, I totally understand about the PO....I can't track anything because they didn't get scanned till they got to my PO, so up till that point it said "we have been notified to expect...blah, blah, blah". I remember last year and the year before I had eggs in 2 days, rarely 3... and some if they got it to the PO early I had them the next day. Fastest I have gotten anything this year is 2 days, average 3 and some 4 days.
well, off to bed, I only stayed up to see this chick, now I am gonna go cry myself to sleep

jk, now I just gotta find someone that wants mutts, I still have some others with "issues" I need to get rid of

yeah, getting the calls to stop is a BIG relief. Dh and I filed many years ago, right before they changed the laws. He was active Army and didn't make a lot. We had a few credit cards and they didn't have high balances at all. When he got out of the military we couldn't make the minimum payments and the charges started racking up, late fees, overlimit fee(because of late fee

) and it went on for well over a year. I went through all my records and wrote down how much we paid etc and explained to dh that we paid back LOTS more than what we borrowed and were still buried in fees and it just kept getting higher. I told him our credit was already shot and after I showed him what we paid vs. what we used/borrowed he looked at it a bit different. I had been trying to get him to file bankruptcy, but dh is proud. When he was still active army he refused to go on food stamps and got a second job just to not have to get assistance, although we didn't see him much because of it

. So after researching and putting together a presentation for dh he finally agreed, begrudgingly. It was the best thing ever, the phone stopped ringing 10x a day. We still don't have great credit and I am NOT going to get credit cards. Dh said "if we don't have cash to buy it, we don't need it". I think we are trained to feel like a "failure" if we need to file bankrupcy and that is sad. We got nailed by the credit companies before all these new regulations came about. Bad stuff happens to good people, it's how you handle it that will define you and your relationships. Dh and I fought a lot back then, all about $$. Now we don't, ever. After all was said and done we agreed we should have done it sooner instead of having all that stress in our life and relationships. I hope it all works out for you

Has anyone had a BLRW chick that is basically silver colored with a few reddish highlights? I'll try to get a pic, but she really is different looking than all the rest.

I know and Dh knows we tried everything before the lawyers-I mean everything-it wasnt enough and we have to forfeit the rest-which is fine. We know we will have a some what clean slate and a long road ahead of us to stay where we need to be-a budget is awesome and cant wait to restructure and see I can actually "save" after everything is paid-"just in case" you know..??

She is new-my hen who was broody hatched her out last Friday-totally excited over her~ havent named her yet but she is the only survivor from her kind in that hatch-I had a "mutt" hatch with her so she has company I think the daddy was my buff silkie or Patrick my black LF cochin and mom was the Amaracauna-cutie pie
