I won't worry about the single comb, it will help your fertility and if you don't like them, then don't keep them but rosecomb to rosecomb will still produce some straight combs.
it is actually the rosecomb/straight comb carriers that have the best fertility from what I'm reading.

Lovin, I think you have to wait on comb size and color on the cochins, Although, some of the boys are obviously stouter at hatch, and seem to have slightly more profuse toe feathering than their sibling sisters.
