I have great hopes for them. I truly believe I kept the 2 best roos, Blue is good for type, but his color is SO vibrant, his blue is truly blue and the red is so dark mahogany. Rioja is not as dark, but he is SO good for type. He's positively fluffy and round. Only my best hens will be used for selling eggs. I have 4 hens that have nice lacing. I may experiment with the other hens to see what they throw with a good rooster. They are foley and sterling hens so they have potential. Otherwise they'll make good eating egg layers.

I so want to get some eggs from you when you are selling. Maybe we could even do a trade with some "special" eggs!

Just might be able to work that out

I think I'm being bullied by my hens!

Does anybody else get kicked out of the hen house repeatedly while you are trying to clean it? If one wants to lay an egg, and I'm busily sweeping or raking in the hen house, they look at me and raise holy heck until I exit, and then settle, with a satisfied sigh, into a nest box and take their own sweet time in all the privacy they now have to lay an egg!

Makes cleaning the henhouse a time consuming process!

'Course, while my rotten hen lays an egg, it does give me time for a break and a beer, and a chance to complain on the board.

So far I have:

20 Coronation/ Split Sussex Eggs (started the 21) From ebay
3 Lav Orps
7 BCM
8 BBSO
1 Wheaten (started the 22) from Bargain

I am looking to pick up another auction or 2, I would love a few delawares and a couple more lav orps. My hubby let my silkie and olive egger babies wander the backyard last week, needless to say I lost 8. So upset.

( They were from Catdance Silkies and Nat.

( I still have 1 olive egger and 1 silkie that survived.

Oh Nat, so we think both the OE's are boys. The older one totally is. HUGE tree trunk legs, the other one is very bold and likes to peck fingers, so we are thinking that one is, too. The silkie babies are doing great though, making good friends with the MFD's.

Maybe try posting a request on the cochins international forum.

I'm going to my first show in two weeks. There is supposed to be an entry of around 1300 birds. I'll keep an eye out.

Oh! First show! How exciting!

What will you show?

I'm entering 3 ameraucana pullets. Black, blue, and lav. The boy's tails are too ratty and the cochins aren't mature enough.
