I had been watching my hen, Fern, for a few days, and felt that she had an impacted crop. It's hard as clay, and has been the same size every morning. Today I crated her and gave her olive oil soaked bread cubes in a base of applesauce and molasses. I will continue to massage her. Her poop is not that starving green color.

Anything else I can do?

Wish someone would massage me and serve me bread a la oile, sounds like shes got it good. Kidding Sem, really those are the best things you can do for her. I have one crated too. She got hit to hard by the lice, so I have her inside getting her hit hard with vitamins and good food like oatmeal and egg.

why must you people with hot weather shove it in our faces..Isnt it bad enough we have snow up the ying yang here and we are freezing must you make the rest of our lives misserable too? LOL

Well, payback equals things out. For 4 months in the summer, it's around 90, 80 at night, and high humidity. I guess I've gotten somewhat used to it, if I work at something outside, I just understand that I will be coming in dirty and drenched and take a shower.

Re water heaters, there's 2 types, the quick ones, and the all night ones. The all night ones-you can find them less energy consuming if they just keep the water from freezing, and the water mostly freezes at the top. The quick one is high energy use, but only for a short time. I think they have some variety at Americanlivestocksupply.com and valleyvetsupply.com.

No the lice are gone, they've all been treated, she's just acting a bit lethargic anemic. So I have drench in her water and she's getting "spoiled rotten" food. like fresh egg, oatmeal, multigrain bread, millet, etc... no massages though
