mine is crying because I'm moving to far away!! Evidntly there is no recolection of heR staying with us untill at least the end of Jan to help us get situated!!

hey ever see that movie 50 first dates with adam sandler??? it reminds me of what you can do for your mom every morning-seriously it may work for a time!!!

lol ...it's definetely a challenge... Caught her making a manhatten at 1 this afternoon..are ya kidding me!! Thinking I might inadvertantly take her eys to VA with me tonight

Eeeee...I got my first barnevelder egg!! Unfortunately, we just spearated the barnies last week so I cannot incubate it, but eeee!!

Nat- the roos I sold were all under 12 weeks besides 3 bigger boys (a blrw, black cochin and a bcm), that I decided to cull for various reasons. The blrw had a little to much pink in the legs and was related directly to my 2 remaining pullets, the cochin had to much red in his hackles and the bcm was simply to many. I chose to keep only bcm 2 roos. He was the youngest and kept getting picked on.

15 dozen eggs were just eating eggs from this week. The local feed store buys all my extra eating eggs for $2.50 a dozen. I could get more but then I have to deal with lining up sales, etc. Easier to just take them to the feed store and buy my food. They give me a discount on my food as well. It all works out.

How many chickens.....all of my "special" birds/ flocks (probably 50-60 birds) plus 30 or so hens that are simply for egg laying. I am still getting over 2 dozen eggs per day from my girls in my laying flock. I also have around 150 babies under 4 weeks old. There is a reason my husband calls my hobby his part time job.

The 150 babies also includes 100 from a hatchery that will be sold at pol in April, the other 50 will be grown out, some will be added to my keeper flocks and a few sold. Yes, my feed bill is crazy.
