I have found that a strategically placed wool sock helps with the traditional kilt wearer on especially cold days. This applies to loin cloths also.

I'm impressed there's anything to put a wool sock on, if it's that cold.

Ouch! Ba dum bum - chhh!

On a hot day Brindle...I dont think a wool sock would fit any man!

I think some folks suspected I was blowing a little smoke when I was extolling the extremely laid back disposition of these birds. Some times I wish they were a bit more wilder, try wading through about 75 or so of these big guys to get to the back feeder. I mean if you step on say a silkie there is just a squawk and a little puff of feathers, imaging a bunch of bowling balls slowly rolling around your feet, they'll take you down if you are not carefull. They will stand right in your way, and then cuss a little when you step on their foot feathers. But all in all, I haven't found any I like better.

I do deep litter - I can't clean out three coops that often! Seems to work pretty well so far although I go in each weekend with a rake and turn the areas the chickens aren't bothering to do. Turn turn turn and add new. So far, no smell and doesn't look gross. Yet.
