Just got back from our local backyard chicken meetup group get together thingy. A couple of the ladies stopped by beforehand and we(I) preformed a "necropcy" on one their cochin bantams before the meeting/meal. So looks like I missed a bunch tonight. When I got home wife was/is watching some movie with Meryll Streep singing ABBA songs (shudder). Got the headphones on listening to a Kentucky NPR station that just bought a station in Middletown Ohio that used to be one of those dime a dozen top 40 country stations. Just got done playing a splendidly long Grateful Dead jam, followed by some new Gregg Allman, so life is good.
Mamma, yes Dad keeps all his Cornish in small seperate groups. Even moving the hens into a new group of other Cornish results in them dukeing it out for rank. Now all chickens do this, but the difference is games don't accept defeat easily and neither will back down easily. Having a couple Cornish hens in a mixed flock probably won't that big a thing, they will likely be running the show in short order, they have the muscle to back up the attitude. They don't neccassarily go looking for trouble, they just won't take nonsense from anybody. Another thing with Cornish is when they do fight, because of their wide square build they can get flipped onto their backs, and can't right themselves and will die that way. Have never had any problem with them being man aggressive. Between the two I think Cornish would be easier than Malay. Standard whites are extremely scarce these days.
I'm confused are you not supposed to be proud untill you have lost 75 lbs. or eaten 75 lbs. of those Carmal Cream things, because if those are the kind they sale at
TSC I'm game either way.
Nat, I see your cracking youself up tonight, just how many Newcastles are we into by now ?
The whole AI thing wierds me out, but I have to say, as bad as it sounds, I was somewhat relieved to hear it was a woman working the eye dropper. I know, a shrink could probably have a field day with that one.
I think that is everything, they are going to play some Commander Cody, and New Riders of the Purple Sage. I believe I have a new favorite station.
