Shavings?

How early can you move chicks to shavings? I have dried pine shavings that I use in my coop, I moved my week olds on shavings at 5 days and they are having a blast! There are some happy chickies! I sprinkle their food with grit as they pick and scratch at the shavings a lot. Can I move the younger ones over sooner? They are eating really well. The youngest are about 3 days old.

When you're sure they know what food is as opposed to the shavings, sure, move them over. I've added 2 day old chicks to a brooder of week old chicks already on shavings and had no problem.
