I'm so nervous. My last try at it I started with 5 eggs but 2 were clear. Then only one hatched. That was last July 4th and he's been a lonely, spoiled goose ever since.I would love to hatch goslings! How exciting

So I'm really hoping for buddies

Ok great. I bet the pictures from Pyxis’s thread had been oiled since it was an assist thread. Makes sense now. They would only be translucent if they have been moistened with oil, etc. Or when you first crack into an air cell for an assist, the membrane could be clear until the air dries it out. But what we see in normal, unassisted hatching is usually the outer membrane. Its thicker and will stay white much longer.
Clarify - white is good if the chick/duckling is progressing normally on its own. If assisting and much membrane is exposed, then it should be oiled and translucent.
Same here too! I thought a chick was loose outside my bedroom window this morning
How much membrane can you see? Just watch for it to turn brown. Otherwise, we'll be waiting with you.
Ohhh, I see it!View attachment 1352746 I took a picture earlier but you gotta look real close to see it. It's just cracked nothing hole like yet. .

Oh cool! You should start a thread when you get it up and running.I'm buying parts for my diy bator today. Gonna hatch some of my call duck eggs!
