I still laugh about the day I realised what that picture was on your avatar since I have train tracks practically in my back yard

Mud everywhere here too as well. My chicken eggs are clean enough but that's amazing really. Nothing else is clean.

I'm here with you guys for the duration as you are actively hatching calls. Easy choice.

I have to say, the eggs I've had to toss from this batch happened to be the dirtiest ones. Really noticeably dirtier than what's left growing. They were shipped so I don't know what else is different but that's potentially interesting.

I did not wash the call eggs prior to setting them They were very clean.
Cayuga eggs were from the first two days after I got the girls so they laid them out in the mud. I washed them in warm water but no bleach. Two of them were dirtier than the others so I wiped them with a paper towel some. . I wonder if the smaller air cell one is one of them I didn't wipe off. Hum. Interesting.

I have never seen washing to make a difference in air sac size. Maybe laying them in a poop filled mud puddle would coat the eggs so the moisture loss is even less!
