Hence, why I mentioned my lack of DUX experience.

Also different parts of the country have different "atmospheres" that change hatching techniques radically.

I have a bowl with fluffed paper towels in there, when I open it I spray it real quick with distilled water, to try to prevent this happening.

I got all the black glue off from the legs up on all of them. It was a panic fest for sure. I saw some turning blue. I hope I haven't killed them. Tiny bleeds here and there but they all stopped. Had to cornstarch some.

Did you open the incubator in the last 3 days at all?


Even though the hygrometer reads 70, if you open the incubator the humidity drops fast. The meter may not even read the drop it is so fast.

During the time it is open, and it only takes a minute or two the membrane will dry out. For some reason they do not seem to 're-moisturize" even with the high humidity.

I had to learn this the hard way. I could not understand why I couldn't look at them and close it quick.. The moisture in the membrane leaves VERY VERY fast..

That is why the last three days are called lock down...

I have tried everything on the heat shrink wrap. if they are developed enough you can pick it off.

If they start to bleed....EVEN ONE MINUTE DROP!!! stop and leave them alone for 12 hours or so. Yes, you will lose some. but you might save some too.


If you really want to save them....(NOTE this is my experience hatching other eggs. I have NEVER hatched a DUX!! Ever, ever, never.)

I know everything you said is GREAT advice. But I guess dux are backwards? Just like you've always said!

And who knows what I've done to these dux. I'm sad that was awful.

Do all the yolks look to be fully absorbed? Navels looking okay?

You're doing great with them.. they needed help or they wouldn't have made it all..

I have one chick from the other day I might have to send to the dishwasher soap box......He/she was in the egg too long and has a messed up leg. She heat wrapped it appears, I had to help her but I do not open until 24-36 hours after the hatching starts.

Heat wrapped without my ever opening the door...dumb things!

I feel bad but with then opening it to save her would kill others.

Only one has fully left the egg. Navel a bit stringly/bloody. I clear iodined it. Pic of shell leavings. What looks like a lump isn't, just my finger collapsing it.

Should I keep humidity up and leave them to finish?

They are all still alive. So far.

The one I can see absorbed it well I think. The others are still inside the bottom of the eggs.

Leave them in there and wait...
