Shaws call duck incubation thread (hatch a wonderful(worthless to Ralphie) dux thread)

Names I am considering are Diana, Leia, Odette, Pippin! The snowy duckling ( with the squinty eyes) is weaker and slower than the others. She was fine yesterday but seems different today. She had a little pasty butt that I cleared up maybe that was the problem?? Hope she makes it! Anything I can do to help her?


Daphne has 4 or 5 eggs under her. I put a milk crate over her last night to keep her safish. A coon could reach in and bite her head off it it tried.

Just keep watching those butts. I battled pasty butt with my two incubator calls for about a week. Washing butts daily, then rubbed it with Neosporin. Not sure if that part was necessary but made me feel like I was doing something. Lol. Watch your brooder temp I think I let mine get too warm may be why I had that problem. They didn't ever act hot but they became a lot more active once I backed the heat off.

Maybe. A bit of nutri drench down the side of her bill if you haven't already done that.

Mine is sitting on eight too! Not sure when shes due, i havent been keeping good track when i candle, theyre probably around 11 days old. I plan to keep my favorites and sell the others, maybe that will be easier on her rather than selling all of them. Or if she only hatches a few then i might just keep them.
