There’s a bunch pike, muskie, pickerel, walleye etc.. plus a whole bunch of salt water stuff. Ive caught them all before but I only have pickerel locally. I end up getting cut by the little ones. Seems like their teeth are sharper.
Oh! I guess I knew that walleye have teeth but I've never caught one so I've not seen that personally.
Pro tip: If you ever catch a snapping turtle one good flick to the nose and he’ll open his mouth to allow you to gently retrieve your lure/fly.
I did not know this.
And neither did any of the idiots I've ever been around that ever caught a snapping turtle.

That’s because that was a total lie. I was just kidding. 🤣

They were still idiots. I stand by that part. 🤣
I was going to say I don't think I've ever caught one that didn't swallow the darn thing.

The proper way to remove a hook from a snapper is pull the line until the turtle’s head is fully extended, then drop an axe forcefully on the neck.

Stay away from the head, the jaws will be snapping. Break open shell, remove the meat. Then cool and fry it.

Yummy stuff.

🤣because if you’re careful it hardly ever happens. Do you know how bad one of those gloves will stink if you keep handling fish with it? I usually use some kind of pliers but I don’t always have them with me.
Always need a pair of needle nose with you and can the gloves not be washed?

Story time (wall of text warning):

In Canada there were a couple spots where we could catch 30 to 40 big northern pike like this one in a day...

those fish were all in the slot limit which is between 26” and 35” or so, and had to be thrown back, but when things were right you could catch them one after another sting the banks

so one day when we really got into them my buddy accidentally dropped our long nosed pliers in the drink and then we had to extract our lures using regular length pliers and sticking our hand into their mouths, so we wrapped a tshirt around our forearm each time and hoped for the best

The thing about pike is they like to roll and twist so they can be pretty hard to handle... so it turned into a two person job for getting the lure out of each fish, and eventually we both got ripped up pretty good, but it was still fun

after that we always took multiple pairs of long nosed pliers

this particular fish came within a different story but is the general size I’m talking about.
