So I got a few chicks (not my first rodeo) and one of them was chirping extremely loud for 2 days. No pasty butt, eating and drinking fine, but the others wanted nothing to do with it so it just yelled chirp. Well 24 hours later it was laying there all weird (photo attached), it was totally alive but also suffering massively, I’ve never seen this happen does anyone no what’s going on? I tried to save her but she was just bubbling thick saliva at the mouth, doing this weird tongue thing, and like spazzing her body with her head constantly rolling and her foot twitching. So I made the decision to cull. I’m just super curious to know what would cause such a thing to happen..? I have videos but you can’t post videos so here’s some photos. Hope someone can shed some light :) TIA

The way you post videos here is to post them to You Tube first. Then copy the URL and paste that in a comment window. Hit "post reply" and it will automatically embed.

Chicks can get constipated and that's very painful so they chirp madly and continuously. If you don't get oil into them quickly and clear the obstruction, they will die. The chick may have been in death throes when you saw it jerking and gasping.

Or it may have had organ failure due to them being underdeveloped and it died from that.
