she passed away and I want another. what was she?

cool EE it is... I'm working on getting some this spring. Don't have to look like her just want the temperament and the lg green eggs, I love them and my kids did too. So did a few neighbors after they found out that the egg wasn't BAD... lol I was actually asked what was wrong with that egg?

Just keep in mind not all EE's lay green/blue eggs. They can be any color even white. I have 4 EE's and only 1 lays a green egg. 2 are brown and 1 is a very light creamy color. And all 4 of mine look different. One looks like yours except with a beard (she's in my profile pic), one is blue/white, one is mixed shades of brown with a big black beard and the other is shades of brown with no beard.
But love them all :)

I know it's crazy... I have cracked a few open just to show them they are the same.... but well ya just cant convince some people.

I don't like eggs. But I have even fried up 2 eggs and tried both. Tastes the same to me. The only difference I could ever tell in eggs, was farm fresh and store boughten, just as about everyone else has ever tried both can.

Where did you get her from? If it was a person you could get ahold of you might be able to get another from the same line. If not, your best bet will be to get a pullet from trade days. There is more risk getting something from trade days because they are from someone else's flock and not a certified breeder or hatchery. Remember to quarantine the new one for a month from your flock to make sure that there is nothing wrong with the new one. By getting one already grown you can ask for a particular egg color. You will spend a few extra dollars but it will be worth it. I don't know about your area, but the trade days here people sell day olds for $3 and pullets for $5-$8.

What is trade days? If they want more easter egger pullets they could simply order from a hatchery and potentially avoid the risk of bringing disease into their flock. And going to where ever the got the original one isn't going to do any good when trying to find a look a like, because easter eggers don't breed true. They are a luck of the draw type of deal.

I am also looking for a few Blue Ameraucana's and a few Wheaten Ameraucana's that aint going to cost me an arm and a leg. if anyone has any that aint too far away.

Maybe contact Duane Schroeder. I don't know how much he charges but he is located in Indiana. I dont keep wheaten and blue wheaten.
Here is a link to the Ameraucana breeders club, you should be able to find contact information for him under the breeders directory.

Trade days is hosted in the Tractor Supply parking lots (Saturday) most often and is a gathering of many people selling poultry of all ages. When looking for EE's that lay a certain color egg it is an option to get cheap pullets that have already started laying. No one regulates trade days so it is important to quarantine newcomers.

our trade days here are held on 5 acres of land. would never fit on a TSC parking lot and there are allot more then just chickens. Guess it varries from place to place. ours is every weekend for 3 mths.

My closest TSC doesn't do that. There are some swaps around Indiana, but not near me.
