She prefers goats over her own kind...

@Onlysony welcome, and as long as it's safe and warm, and not pooping all over things it shouldn't be, I wouldn't see a problem.

a Cockerel that prefers hanging around (more like on) her horse than her flock.
I've seen that before, it seems really symbiotic. I think they know individuals too, both the chicken and horse. Its a cool thing.

He only rides on one of her three horses, so I am guessing you are on to something!

I see that you have already created a thread in this forum. I’ve suggested that your thread is moved to the most appropriate forum.

Good idea - I didn't notice I posted where I did...it seems to be the default spot on my phone when I hit the icon to ask a question and I'll pay more attention to that in the future!

We moved the chicken to the coop today because feeding her became impossible - the goats seemed to get fatter overnight and no matter how I tried to hide her feed they found it and ate it.

I don’t understand where the nesting box is that it isn’t inside.
No chicken should be sleeping in a nesting box unless it is broody. You don’t want poo in there. As far as her being alone, if the box is inside, she is okay.

Our goat house and chicken coop are in one building - separated by a storage and working area (where the hay and feed is stored and where the goat stanchion is located). The nesting boxes are accessible for the birds from inside the coop (obviously) but the egg collection door-thingy, that closes like a little roof on the nesting boxes, is inside the storage area - so its toasty warm. The whole barn is insulated and safe from predators.

Well, that's interesting!
Might want to post about that here:

Hope you can click the link on your phone.

Gotta watch that, have read horror stories about goats gorging on chicken feed and getting very, even fatally, ill.
