She Said/He Said thread replaced- A place to find help and have entertaining discussions

You remember the eggs I set a couple months ago because the broody hen that had been broody since June decided, after I put 6 new eggs under her Aug. 1st, that she was done, so I had to fire up my old incubator? Well of the 6, I hatched 3. I'd thrown a brooder house together for them, with a heat lamp in the rafters for cold nights, and moved them into it at a month old. They seemed to be doing just fine, and were fully feathered. This past week I finished up a small run, hung it on the front of the coop, & opened the door.

I hadn't used the heat lamp for several days, but I guess the temps got lower than I thought they would Friday night; found 2 dead Saturday morning, the remaining one succumbed later the same day.

That cured me of incubating eggs so late in the season. I wanted replacements for next year, so when the broody quit on me I decided, against my better judgement, to try the incubator route. Another hard lesson learned...life goes on. :(

That is disappointing. Cheers to spring!

That's so sad! Sorry! I won't hatch this late either, cause last year I kept them in the house for the winter in the "play room" and OMG!! Never again. One or two I could handle, but a whole batch....no way! And I'm not set up to have them in coop for cold weather.
My little one I have in here now who does have a light on her, has been sneezing on and off. But the three with my broody momma are doing wonderful out there.

Hiya :frow

Did you not get a PM or anything Amy to say it was being removed? I thought they were meant to say if they removed your thread? There has also been a lot of spam just lately, may be it got removed by mistake in a clean up :idunno
I know last time it got moved to the BST section :gig
I've had some weird goings ons with my subscriptions too :barnie
Hope you are all well and things are good?

Nope. No pm's nothing. There's no trace of it. I did pm Nifty to ask, but I'm thinking it was swept up and taken right off, probably during a spam clean up. I've had no infractions/warnings, so I would assume that it's a error, but I don't know if it's a reversable error....

I am glad I live down south at this time of year. The extended season helps alot, with later hatches. It is raining cats and dogs for the past few days non stop. Ugh!

I have been studying bee keeping this week. Hubby wants to set up a hive in the spring. So I am 5he one who gets to do all the research. I have found someone that sells about 30 mins away. We will be self sufficient before we know it. Lol.

@CaseyV get over here.
