She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

Lovely pics, everyone. :) I'm happy for you, Chicapee that Miracle survived!!

Ruby, WV, 8gb is so tiny! 16gb is small! I didn't want to end up running out of space within a year so I just went ahead for the 64gb. More than half is already full.

I have a horrible feeling that Miracle is not going to survive. She appears to be gasping. I think it maybe omphalitis caused by the filthy condition of the eggs. I really want to slap that cow who sent me those eggs. I have her wrapped up in the incubator and if she is still alive in the morning it will be a true miracle. I am pretty p.o'd right about now.

:hugs I hope she makes it.
Have you communicated with that cow again? I think we should all go slap her. One at a time, of course, then maybe all at once!

I am so sorry for all that... :hugs

Has the humidity dropped in the bator at all? Can you get it drier in it without chilling her? Seems a drier bator helps more when one is struggling, especially since humidity encourages bacteria...

Thanks for the hug. No more communication with her, there really isn't anything left to say. Except swearing at her. Plenty of choice expressions running through my head right now. Too rude to print.

I took out everything sponges, wet towels etc as soon as she hatched to decrease the humidity asap.

Spot on... you've done your best for her, is all up to her willpower now... :hugs

Chicapee - Sounds like you have done all you could.

So I installed the window and the automatic door and put hardware cloth over the old hole they used to go in and out of. 2 of my Orloffs decided to make themselves comfortable out in the run to settle in for the night. I shoo'd them back into a small section of the run next to the coop and shut the hole in the wire. No place to roost in there, so they decided to go in. Door closed, and all was well. I have the "last call" option set, but they didn't come back out.

I still think it's too hot in the coop with the front door closed, but I can't see adding any more ventilation before we leave on Monday. (Of course it's my best pair of Orloffs that don't want to go in at night, and I really don't want them to be coyote food.)

Frustrating!

That prototype coop looks great, better than what you can get from the feed store. I love the silkie, like a fluff of cotton. Congrats on the hatch, fingers & toes crossed she pulls thru!
I candled 36 eggs (it reeked when I opened the lid) found 4 were cracked :( seen veins in at least 10. Most look like I was looking at candy corn or orange jello inside the egg.

Air cells look good. Between the size of a nickel and a quarter

Fingers crossed! They will figure it out.

Looks like a little veining in there. I hope you found all the stinkies and got them out!

How is Howard doing now?
