It's funny how everyone focuses on the references that involve them. I think there's a little narcissist in all of us :gig
You called it the monster bator. You knew I was on this thread when you posted it :D

Ha!! AmyLynn focused on it and brought it to my attention!!

And it never occured to me like that... maybe my mind hasn't sunk as far down into the sludge as yours has??? :plbb

There is absolutely no way that you didn't even think of that. You could have called it the huge bator, the massive bator, the gigantic bator, but you went with monster...
Come on in, the sludge is fine

Well, one thing to consider... I keep reading about people saying they wished they had started with better stock.  Over and over, I keep reading that. So go with the best you can find, in any breed you choose.  I also thought that when I started out, I'd take whatever I could get... didn't really matter.  Now that I am a little more serious about it, I know I got lucky with my LO's.  Not so lucky with my cochins, but I could tell that when I met the girl with the eggs..    But if you are going to get that bator on Saturday, you better find something soon.  It will kill you sitting there not being plugged in!!

"More spoiled enormous birds"... Love it!!

Most of my origional birds were free SO... Anything good is hard to come by around and i hardly want to use their eggs. The reason i said i will weed them out is Exactly what you stated, i read everywhere how people wish they started with better stock. My flock goals are primarly in my freezer so i kind of have the attitude, i can play with anything :)

A note on my quail... I bought 6, got 4 roos to 2 hens my hens wouldnt lay, were at about 3 months old and still nothing. I proccessed 3 roos and am looking for progress, but i ask yall who want to mess w em, to get lots of feed back. I got Wildly different tales from the couple of people i spoke to. Personally, im not giving up, because theyre here. I wont say i wouldnt have bought em because i needed the expereince but i will say to have caution, theyre extra messy and flighty as a general rule.
