She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

Face it, Amy... we all KNOW SC is more narcissistic than you...

Why does crowing and clucking bother everyone? I much prefer hearing my 50... oh 100... well, 150... hens and roos carrying on than downtown city life...

Could never handle downtown city - the barking dogs of my neighbors in the suburbs were bad enough. Clucking and egg songs don't bother me at all. Crowing is new to me so I'm trying to figure out whether it is normal for my cockerel to crow several hundred times when I'm trying to concentrate on a complicated medical record, or if he needs to go to someone with a bigger piece of property. If he crowed once in a while, like the rooster a few streets over, it wouldn't bother me at all. If he outgrows it, that would be the best.

Of course he's my favorite, and I think he has the best type so far (but not the best color) so I'm hesitant to get rid of him.

He's handsome, boy!! Is he a Russian orloff? If I'm right that's amazing because if you would have asked me what breed any chicken was 6 months ago, I would have no clue! My boy only crows in the morning. For about 15-20 minutes and then he's done for the day. I wait until 7:30 to let them out of the coop. I figure 7:30 isn't too early to bother my neighbors...I hope!

He's cool looking.

I let mine out between 7:00am and 8:30am usually. They are in there crowing as early as 5 though...lol My one cocky aggressive roo will crow (and he has the loudest highest pitch) whenever you walk out of the house. He thinks he's all that and wants everyone to know. The others aren't bad and will occasionally crow, but they aren't all that annoying. Just the NN.

I knew our 2 RIR's were laying in the woods. Today we found their "secret nest".

They had 22 eggs hiding in there. If I do the float test does that wash the bloom off? We have no rooster so they will be for eating not incubating.

Float test will tell you if they are fresh enough to eat. If they sink and lay horizontal, good to eat. If they sink and only the pointy end touches, crack them in a separate bowl and inspect first. If they are suspended or float, pitch them in the compost pile.

Float test won't destroy the bloom if you air dry on plastic mesh. Wiping them dry will.

man this story is a lot longer than I thought .this place was right across the road from the Cumberland river and there was a boat launch and parking area there .there was also a Texas Eastern gas line that ran be hind the property . We used that to get to the back of the property . we had walked about four miles when we got to the property line . and there it was I could just see the gooseneck post of my trailer beside a tree a hundred yards through the woods . Ron said I looked like a bird dog I dropped to one knee and pointed . ain't going to tell you what I said so Now I say let's get the sheriff . Ron say no let's make sure we need to get closer so off we go through the woods till we're standing beside it . but I knew it was mine from a Hundred yards away . but now Ron won't leave the trailer says you've be hunting this thing for a mount I'm staying right here. I ran back to the car drove to get the sheriff . when I get to the sheriff's office Its dark almost pitch black . Run through the door out of breath and very tired . You would think I had just dropped the crime of the century in their lap . made one mistake. I didn't have the police report with me the sheriff was feeding his cows . couldn't go back with out either . the theft report had to be sent from Nashville via teletype . the sheriff is going to meet us there . this takes forever while we're waiting this older deputy tells me how the guy that lives on that farm threatens a deer hunter with a gun. tells him if he's not gone in ten seconds he will kill him . this makes me nervous I'm telling them we need to get back up there and about Ron watching the trailer . they wanted to know if he had a gun . I told them no. no guns just Ron they say he'll be ok and I tell them ain't Ron I'm worried about . WV will understand this there's no such thing as an ex Marine . we finely get back I wasn't allowed to go to the door , they denied the trailer was there but it was ok if they went ant looked . Ron met use at the edge of the woods had a big stick in his hands . Now I fond my trailer but he had ripped off the ID tag and my tags were gone . I had described my trailer to them at the sheriff's office every little detail . but couldn't get it they impounded my trailer and waited for the TBI to tell them it was mine . that took a week . the thief was arrested never saw the inside of a jail cell. because of the value they put on my trailer was to low . according to Nashville . I was there for his trail and his sentencing hearing . when the judge gave him His sentence I stood up and said I was not happy with it and told him all the trouble he had caused me . the Judge then ordered him to pay me $2500.00 in restitution . made it a condition of his probation . I got 21 of it . my wife was so afraid she made me get a P.O. box for him to mail the checks to. I was never afraid . Well only once that night when we found it I was afraid we would get back to a dead or badly hurt trailer thief . Funny thing both police departments wanted me to apply for a job . both said they wished they could me five minutes alone with him . I told them both no on the job and if I had wanted him hurt he would already be hurt. The people who new about what I had done went from the Governor to every local sheriff's department in middle TN. for a couple of years after that I got calls from people wanting to know how to do what I did . and that is the rest of the story . I'll tell you about Ron and the white oak creek another time.

Awesome tale, true stories are better than fiction.

I can't wait for the next episode!

Would be interesting to know what percentage the oxygen decreased vs how much the CO2 increased and what kind of instruments they were using to measure them.  Sounds like an experiment I could really mess up at home!

Oh please...........  If I thought that I wouldn't still be here after 19,000 posts - would have been long gone.

Ummm - there wouldn't be a thread at all - He said (SC), She said (Amy)  - LOL.

lol i knew that.. but if there was another "he" it wouldn't be the same.

Its just one of those cases when it rains it pours. We can hear the transaction from my bank card 2 WEEKS ago for the water bill, km burnt up behind my water getn cut off. When things like this happen i just get so down really easily. I do better with every day, but sometimes i just break without warning. Yesterday was one of those days, it was one thing after another until i just broke down...

I learned the hard way that respite care is Overtly Neccesary for all caregivers. Bravo to all of you who have taken care of anyone for any length of time! Even kids are more than i can take right now. I dont have any, cant, but i have the insicnt and it leads to me most often to critters... Ruby ive rehabed like you and your mon for the last year

yall are right, my family shouldnt have left it all to me. The only reponisble party in my family is my daddy, and him and my stepmom came on his weekend off every two weeks for one day. They couldnt understand why i needed more than that. I dont play with drugs at all anymore. I was put in prison for years, fighting for my life with the 30 year sentence they gave me for POT... Its true i lived in a place that corrupt. 30 years for like 3 grams of pot... Obviously i won, or else id be in prison 25 more years... Im terrified of getting strung out or turning into an alcoholic, so i dont play with any of it. Lots of people say the psyce meds would help, but truth is they only Numb, and u still gotta deal w the bs

I have a closet full of history that even my family and husband don't have access to. But like you, I dealt with my situation, and over time got stronger. Then I kind of went overboard for a while when financial stuff got really hard to deal with, we lost all our savings and retirement money and almost our house. But after weathering that by taking on all kinds of work, like cabinet making, construction, and car restoration, we got along until I got back into IT.

Just letting you know there is a happy ending, but you have to write it.

I asked in a Facebook group and people were like ewww there could be bacteria pitch them asap. But wouldn't any bacteria be cooked off? I dont eat raw eggs. I was almost thinking about cracking them open then freeze. Idk what to do :(
