She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

They are so cute, starting to feather out already. Ended up with 8. I need to take pictures and get them to you.

You can always post them here... everyone here likes chick pics, lol... would like to see them and see how many girls/boys ratio you got... chicapee here has a girl from me too... :)

You're doing fine... we were all new at one time too... it really is a learn as you go type of thing... my opinion is to just let them sit for 2 days without tilting, but no more than 2 days at this point... then start tilting them again after checking air cells again... :)
K. Thank you . You're making me feel a little better, lol. I felt like I had just killed 12 lil babies a minute ago :(

I have to wait for the turner to get the eggs back upright. It's tilted all the way to the right right now. I have no clue how to take that darn thing apart, lol. I tried but I thought I was going to break it.

Yes, they are shipped. I started day 5 around 1 o'clock today.

Then I have a different opinion, based on what I've read and conversations Ruby had with someone very knowledgeable on egg physiology: I'd keep turning them.

If you were at the beginning, I'd have recommended not turning for the first 3-5 days until the cells stabilized. But since you are at 5 days already, I'd keep turning and hope for the best.

Truly at this point it may not make much of a difference, because damaged eggs are damaged eggs and you can rarely "fix" them. I'd still handle them as little as possible.

Just my 2 cents

, probably worth less than that.

Oh no, now I don't know what to do

Now we're in a "She said, She said" situation. Truly, either way will probably work, and most important will be to watch your air cell size. If the chick grows, it should push the air cell to the right position, especially if you lock down with the fat end up.

Go with your gut instinct.

Ravyn has much more practical experience than I do, I've just been doing a ton of research since most of the time, shipped eggs are my only option. The latest info (Thanks to Ruby) made a lot of sense on how inadequate turning during early incubation can cause more deaths later (near lockdown). Manage your incubation to support your best eggs, don't risk the "good eggs" to try and save those that may be too damaged to survive anyways.

I can only tell you what I will try next time I receive shipped eggs. Good luck!

I think I'll wait til tomorrow and ask everyone's opinion and go with a majority vote? I'm so worried now, I really don't know what to do. I hate to seem like I don't trust either of you but I'm drawn in 2 different directions now :(
