Megan, what are you using for a thermometer? I once had a digital go bonkers when I raised humidity at lock down. So, I kept adjusting temp, only to find out that a bulb thermometer was giving more accurate readings in high humidity. That's why I use both types, and always check all thermometers against medical before adjusting temp. :welcome Or at least to this thread :welcome Or at least to this thread Lost papers are my greatest enemy. New word. Quick, let's add that one to the dictionary.
Lost papers are the enemy! Maybe lost brain cells too...
Yea for powerful flashlight! Even though duck eggs are white they are really thick. Congrats on the awesome development. I wondered about that. All my duck eggs seem to be ovals so not really a pointed end. Dont be scared of the incubator! I tried to hatch my first set of duck eggs. Out of 36 eggs I had ZERO hatch. DH convinced me to try again. So tonight starts day 7. Life is all about learning!
I am in That boat. Lost 24 last month, my first attempt. Attempt # 2 looks like i will have around 20 babies...
I remember reading about CCL origins in US Gary Dean posted recently if you wish to read https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/509483/cream-legbars/8620#post_15844046
I will attempt to play catch up, but you guys are crazy fast posters! I am going to attempt ripping out a laminate floor today, ugh not sure I am healthy enough but going to at least give it a whirl, it may be easier than I expect :fl
Dont overdo it! Ahhhh sorry it so long!!! Im outbofnovations so i had to quote everything i loved :D Now yall dont stay up so late without me anymore!

Does he use punctuation when he's talking? If not, I don't see how he breathes

Just throw an old rooster, a SQ rooster, and a cocky 3 year old that likes to bite in a pen with a bunch of cackling hens and you would get a pretty good idea

Seriously, though, where did you find that?

I would love to meet more BYC people, especially BYC910. I've only met the gal I got my last eggs from, and I didn't know beforehand that she was a BYC person. I've talked to a few on the phone though, and text with several! Its cool to get to know some of these folks.
Oh and Amy and Ruby are coming to my camp someday!!

Seriously, i want to encourage you to try the bator again, the 92 is alot better than the 93 that fried all my last eggs... And if your Too scared of the easy bake over ;) i found a brinsea oct 40 at less that 1/2 retail value, only used twice... Watching craigslist does pay off sometimes :)

I will try again, I promise. I have some pure bred birds now that I will need more of, not too many folks have rumpless aracaunas over here, and my bcm, I need to sell eggs for eating too, so an incubator is the way to get both. I'll keep my eye out for the octagonal machine too. I've read great reviews about them.

I've only met LaurelC, what a neat gal! She got her mom started in chickens and got some pullets from me, thank you BYC!

Its not glued, but my knees and hip hurt already, break time
hide.gif
I hear you. Breaks are good. It's been over 80 every day, and I'm out working with a pick axe, digging holes for posts to make a hawk proof chicken run. I wish I had an automatic pick axe. BTW, the natural soil in my area consists of a bit of clay loosely sprinkled between piles of big stones. The B*****d was back again, hovering overhead, and flashing his wings, inviting his friend to the chicken buffet this morning. So, I had to round every one up, and at least get them behind a fence, put the babies back in the tractor. Babies were too content foraging, so I had to alternately chase them with a mop and lure them with scratch. My neck, hips, knees, biceps, triceps, lats, and hands are paying the price for the pick axe work. This weekend, it'll be mostly upper body: pouring concrete, setting posts, stretching wire, and pounding a gazillion staples. Cooler weather scheduled next week.

Lost papers are the enemy! Maybe lost brain cells too...
I resemble that remark!
