She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

So cute.  Some of those little chicks are tough!

Yep... life is chaos... we try so hard to get all the conditions just right and against all odds sometimes it just happens, lol...

That's interesting, I wonder...
Aww, so sweet. I was just wondering because I've never had a broody and the only time I get to see them in person is at my neighbors and I'm surprised any of his animals are alive! I went there today and his truck was there but I couldn't find him anywhere...his last broody only has one chick left, all the others have been picked off by predators and the poor little chick was locked in the call duck enclosure! I'm sure it was an accident but that enclosure is his fav and I didn't want any of the young calls to get out, I tried to open the door just enough to fit my arm through and the chick ran away from me! I kept thinking about it getting cold or falling into the pool or the others being mean to it (there are 4 pheasants in that enclosure too). Poor little guy just kept crying for mama! Not sure how I got off on that tangent...
Oh my goodness! So cute! That's incredible. Love the story! Welcome to the world little guy!
I don't name any of mine. And this is the reason. I keep hearing that your favorite ones are always the ones to get attacked by predators. So sad. :(

Or keel over for no apparent reason... :/

Except SC... that little bugger is running around like he owns the whole yard... :plbb

Finally got the 3 chicks moved outside yesterday; three weeks in the house was about all the fun my wife could handle. Just finished (well, almost) a new coop for them that I built out of wooden pallets. The only cost I incurred was a couple sheets of plywood for the roof & floor, and the screws to hold it all together. Still need to paper & shingle the roof; that material coming later today. Gotta fashion some kind of run, as well; just not for sure how extensive I want to get...they're only going to need it til they're big enough to join the grownups.

Hung a lamp in the roof trusses for heat during the night. Just went out & checked; all seem to be doing o.k.

Thats cool!
So cute!
Nope not a thing

if I dont do the eggtopsy today I wont get to it till Thursday
Well, if there are none starting to stink, why not just leave them alone til then? At this point, you have nothing to lose.

I doubt if anything's going to change, really, but stranger things have happened.
