at least there was a pip!! And it warmed up a little today!
It was but we still got a cold wind blowing through here all darn day! (And shsh, don't tell anone, but they are both pipped so I am hoping that they are hatched out by morning.) I am so nervous about her being in the main nest though. I need opinions (other than my own, shocking right?) With her record of leaving the eggs if she's moved, should I even attempt to move her to the kennel after hatch to keep the others from messing with her or just leave her the heck alone and pray for the best and whatever will be will be?

I switched the 2 with the bad navals to the hatching box I have as a back up. I lined it with paper towels and it's up to temp. They have quieted down and are resting now. And I have 3 more pippers!!

that they'll be ok.
Cool.
More experienced people, Now, if I remember w/o going to look it up....navel problems that aren't isolated can be caused by too high humidity during incubation or incorrect temps, more so too low are common causes of this, right?

Healthy hatches and no more navel problems!

I looked it up earlier and I can't remember what it said about humidity but I do remember it said inadequate temp regulation and unsanitary eggs or incubator. Which I bleached the bator right before I turned it back on and the temp stayed fairly stable... after I stopped candling :hide Even when I did candle I always made sure I quickly opened and closed the bator and the temp never dropped more than a degree or 2 and it always recovered very quickly. And I had a spray bottle so I could keep the humidity up. I hope these 2 will be ok. They are so precious. 1 is a gray color with a white belly and the other is brown and looks like it will be chipmunk stripped I think. As soon as I figure out what's going on with their navals and I think it's safe to move them to the brooder I'll take some pics and post them. For now I'll snap a pic of the white/yellow 1 and post that :)

Loretta has been up and running back to normal since yesterday and has continued to lay. I am very relieved. Thanks so much for the well wishes.
Good luck Amy and Megan on those hatches.

I know prep H is ok on ducks, buy not sure about chickens. Honestly, I'd give it a little time with nothing, and see how quickly it starts to pull in.... As long as its isolated and in a fairly sterile environment. JMHO

Took him out long enough to take a pic and then put him in the brooder. He's a fiesty little thing, pecks at everything he sees, lol. You can't see it in the pic but he's got black splashed on his head and the tip of 1 wing.

Excellent news! Forgive me, but I forget which breed Loretta is?
