She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

But where's the fun in that?

Good point!

Oh yea, that short amount of time shouldn't bother a thing.  The eggs take much longer to actually cool down.

Absolutely fine!

This will not change anything in incubation time either.

whew! I got a little scared! Thank you! Now hope Great Lakes Energy figures out where the problem is and fixes it soon!

Just because he made fun of your rooster?

What was really weird was when she found her way onto a "chicken site" & started seeking advice on how to impress her boyfriend. That sent up red flags for me from the get-go. Sounds to me like a kid with too much time on her hands, in an unsupervised environment, looking to stir up trouble for something to do & tell her buddies about.

Probably the best approach, should something similar ever happen again, would be to simply flag them w/o even bothering to reply to them.

We're getting rain and supposed to have high winds from this afternoon to midnight, with gusts up to 60mph. Most of mine are hanging in their coops. Think I'll run them out some treats.

I swear, I think my silkies enjoy the mud. They have, by far, the driest pen with the most roof, and they still wind up out in the rain.
My wife bought me one of those hats with LED lights in the bill yesterday. That thing is just the ticket for minding the pens in the dark before and after work :thumbsup

I love those hats, we use them all the time when working in attics and dark areas in the houses we service. I need a new one cos my hubby keeps nicking them.

I'm so glad that I covered the run with a big tarp over the wire top; the birds can still access the run when it rains. Only problem is it collected water in a low spot the last time it rained a lot & I had to slice a drain hole in it.

I was thinking of doing that too, but adding a Centre beam to allow run off.

I'm going to install a PVC bow strut, soon as I figure out how to secure it to the top rail of the kennel panel that my run is built of.

I was just gonna stand a post up in the center and make it look like a tent.

This doesn't work for long.

Best: Use 45 degree fittings at the end of the bows to connect to vertical pieces, and attach the verticals to the inside of the kennel panels. This will only work if your span is big enough for your bow, and it won't last for too many years before stress cracks start in the PVC. Be sure to use sched 40, not CPVC, about 1" diameter for a width up to 10' and 1 1/4" for 12'
