She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

lol...
I bet it was a mallard egg... true mallards tend to lay blues or greens... and that's where most of our domestic ducks get their different egg colors from as a lot of the breeds are mallard derived...

@RubyNala97 ,
Trouble blacking out, huh? I know exactly what you're experiencing.
Feb. 8th, 2015...I'm sitting here on the couch, watching TV, & started coughing, hard; I'd been fighting a bad cold. I coughed so hard I got dizzy. Wife came down here & asked if I were O.K. I told her I didn't feel well, & next thing I knew I was waking up; I'd blacked out. Went to the hospital, had MRI, CT scan, EKG, EEG, blood workup...nothing...everything checked out ok. Went to see a neurologist, who took me off the road for 3 months (state law in black-out cases). When the driving ban was over I got behind the wheel again & was fine 'til the last Friday in June, when I blacked out again, in the bathroom, Woke up folded over the edge of the tub, my head in the bottom of it. Was feeling fine 'til a few seconds prior to passing out. 3 more months off the road; my decision this time. Went to see a cardiologist & had a stress test; again, nothing. The day my self-imposed driving ban was over, I got in my truck & went fishing about 3 miles from here. While there on the bank of the pond I started feeling lightheaded, knew what was about to happen, & made it to a bench & sat down. Blacked out again. Another self-imposed driving ban. Wore a heart monitor for 10 days; nothing.

My current driving ban is up Christmas day. Almost 9 months after the initial episode, the doctors don't know a bit more than they did before I blacked out the 1st time. It's frustrating as H--- having to be ferried around wherever I need to go, & having to adjust my schedule & activities to match someone else's...that's just not my style.

So, as I said initially, I know what you're up against, & I can certainly empathize with you.
Did they consider Vagal nerve response?

'Splain me "functional medicine"; haven't heard that term before

Okay, I'll try but I am not so good with words n stuff most of the time and right now I am having trouble forming complete thoughts, much less sentences(it's been a long day).

It's this really cool approach that some MD's are taking right now. . . It's basically trying to fix the root of the problem/s by looking at bloodwork, DNA, family history, diet, lifestyle, mental health, etc., and. . . [words are really failing me right now], creating a lifestyle plan based on what each individual needs(according to bloodwork, hormone levels, genetics, etc.) instead of the one size fits most treatment(aka lots of drugs and bandaids to fix symptoms) that most folks receive when they go in today.

It's really fascinating and has me thinking about becoming a registered dietitian again, b/c that would be a critical role, and it's something I have always been interested in.

It's also called integrative medicine, if that helps.

Okay, sorry, this is much easier. From functionalmedicine.org:

"Functional medicine addresses the underlying causes of disease, using a systems-oriented approach and engaging both patient and practitioner in a therapeutic partnership. It is an evolution in the practice of medicine that better addresses the healthcare needs of the 21st century. By shifting the traditional disease-centered focus of medical practice to a more patient-centered approach, functional medicine addresses the whole person, not just an isolated set of symptoms. Functional medicine practitioners spend time with their patients, listening to their histories and looking at the interactions among genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors that can influence long-term health and complex, chronic disease. In this way, functional medicine supports the unique expression of health and vitality for each individual."

Wow. . . couldn't have said it better myself--literally!

Integrative medicine I've heard of. They know what took both my parents, I've had bloodwork. Personally, I'd rather go see a vet; they go to school longer than MDs, and their patients can't tell them what's wrong; they've gotta know.

That really must be extremely frustrating.   Sounds a bit like my sister's story.  They have no idea what is causing her blackouts either.  It happens about once or twice a year.  She's really very healthy otherwise.

Good luck @mixedUPturk
and Kwhites634.  I'm rooting for you over here. :highfive:

I hope your sister doesnt suffer terribly! That situation is very worriesome. I know what causes my fainting spells, and its not something that can just be Fixed. Unfortunatly, i have to live this way-- Carefully that is. Im cool so longs as i can maintain my feet in the coops ;)

SO many stories lately of unexplained medical incidents/conditions.  Functional medicine is starting to interest me more and more.

Hey E1. :frow Got the PC fixed.  Happy Halloween.

Editing so as not to multi post:

@AmyLynn2374
  That costume is TOO cute!  Great job!

How are E1's hatches going? I'm so behind I don't have any idea who is hatching what anymore.  Didn't someone hatch a cow at some point? :lol:

I think I am going to candle ours tomorrow for the first time since we set them last week.  I've been extra careful with them so far and have only looked at #1 and #2.  Been hand turning the rest of them for a few days now.  I'm so nervous about this hatch.

Glad ya got the puter fixed: thanks for the well wishes. You could "say" some hatched a cow...

I guess its time for new pictures of him, hes getn Big Fast!

Thank you, lazy! I just read the wiki on this and it sounds ridiculously close to what my sister is experiencing for in a lot of ways. Not sure if they have considered this in her case, but I'm going to mention this to her when I get the chance. Thank you so much.

Understood. I really think it depends on the doctor/practice, as to what they can/can't accomplish. There seem to be two very opposite ends of the spectrum, but I think a happy medium is where most success is achieved. Unfortunately that's pretty rare, anymore. It seems to me, that in the US right now, we have very over-stressed and over-booked MD's(for the most part). I am hoping that many people will get fed up with it and maybe the next generation will develop a desire to do something about it and become part of the solution.
