My daughter did that with cheddar cheese. She didn't want to share, so she wrapped it in a towel and buried under clothes in her dresser. It took way too long to find the source of the odor.

Well, you were one up on me, anyway. I grabbed a couple eggs from the fridge when I was young & kept them wrapped in towels in my bedroom. Don't recall who finally got rid of them, but they got gone.

LOL Too funny. So guess who learned how to crow today??? The black pullet in question last week!!!![]()
I guess she wasn't just fighting to establish a higher hen pecking order. I almost peed my pants when I saw her crow!! He looks sooo much like a pullet!!![]()
It's actually a good thing because my main boy has to go. Not only is he mean and I can't walk in the run when he's in there but he's got a major flaw, I found out recently. I want to breed paints and black with silver gene is the best and that's exactly what this one is. So she will become my main man for time being.
No, not generally, but I have ducked under my roosts and misjudged coming back up and knocked the crapout of myself...lol You still haven't found what is causing your spells???![]()
Considering i actually caught those myself this year...
I glad you looked it up, without doing the reading yourself its hard to understand. Rot isnt suposed to be complicated But...
Please remmeber also, the cautionairy on sealing FF in glass jars.
Did you mention passing out in the coop because you have a tendancy to pass out? Thats something im Very scared of too! I have a tendancy to pass out. More than once ive hit the ground passed smooth out, like half a dozen times in a row, trien to get back up too soon, because the ground was particularly nasty. After the first time i had to sit on the ground right outside the coop, i put a chair there and now thats what i shoot for anytime my vision starts greying or tunneling...
Part of the reason i was origionally discouraged is exactly your problem: it took my first batch almost a week to eat thru the preservatives in the chosen feed and start fermenting.
Just keep singing YMCA and you'll be ok.who was looking for nuts they missed a couple .well here it is Halloween and I dressed in the same costume I wore last year . to old to party to young not to want to . folks don't get when I say I'm a construction worker . they say but you look like that every day . well it saves on costume rental and I'm ready all year long .![]()

Fermenting the feed makes it more bio-available, easier to digest. Gives the chickens a healthy gut full of pro-biotics. Studies have shown that they have increased cilia in the intestines when on FF. They eat less, and I can attest to the fact that they grow faster, come to POL faster than pullets of same age and from same stock. Comparing the health benefits of FF and regular feed is similar to comparing yogurt to whole milk IMO.Is the reason to ferment feed.. just so they can digest it better?
When I was a boy. We had pigs and whenever we got whole grain like barley..they couldn't digest it because it wasn't ground...so we had to soak it. Let it swell up..so it was soft. And yeah smelled like beer.. pigs liked though.
I wouldn't think chickens would have that problem though. .specially if your soaking already ground grain.
I know that with pigs you have to soak whole grain just to get them to digest it.. so what your saying makes senseFermenting the feed makes it more bio-available, easier to digest. They are beautiful! How are your eggs coming along?
I am amazed at the color of duck eggs. When I was very young, I found a pale blue duck egg in the mud by the pond. I took it home to incubate under a light bulb. It developed into a stink bomb and my parents found it in time.

good as far as I can tell, the eggs from you are darker than I am used to. I think I need a stronger flashlight. For sure movement in at least 1. Hard to tell after a martini & a glass of wine lol (my treat for taking the kids trick or treating in the rain).

I forgot you were doing Walnuts eggs. What day are you on now?
And I'm having an adult beverage with you, my treat for sitting outside all evening deer hunting, and I got cold, and the only deer I saw was the one I disturbed on my way to my stand!
