She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

Bad timing? Isn't your roo a bantam too?

Must be.... My roos are silkie and sultan, so a little bigger than the average bantam. They certainly have no trouble doing their job though. ;)

ETA: they are only 10 months old though.

Oh, hey, I forgot I actually had some pertinent information for this thread. My last AM hatch was 75% of lockdown eggs, and the air cells looked kind of small after incubating at 42% humidity, so I dropped the next set to 35%. Only 7 eggs made lockdown, but all eggs hatched, and closer together, not like the drawn out hatch last time. The 14 going into lockdown tonight were also incubated at 35%, so if these have a high hatch rate, I think that's going to be my number for the AMs
That's great. It'll be interesting to see if they do as well. Congrats!

Hello again, I did a day 14 candle- some of you have already seen results- and ran across a problem, I was hoping someone knew what went wrong.

Out of 15 eggs I set, 4 have been definite deads. (Suspect I will be removing 10 more at day 18) 2 had blood rings, and 2 did not. The strange thing is, on all 4 the yolks have been ruptured! I spotted 2 of the ruptures on candle, and 2 were that way when I broke them open after seeing a blood ring.

The farthest these eggs have been shipped is from the coop to my house, I had them stored for 8 days, turning once a day or whenever I added another egg. I have no idea what could be causing this. It has been suggested that it might be a bacterial infection, but there was no smell. I do have pictures if needed. Thanks!

I'm not on mobile but I wouldn't have known...lol

Oops, sorry... I meant to post about that on your thread... infertile or nondeveloping eggs that have been sitting in a warm bator for 1 week, and especially 2 weeks will get 'breakdown' of the yolks... as yolks age they become more fragile just in eating eggs, thus the 'big deal' about yolks that stand up tall when eggs are cracked...

It's normal, and nothing you did... more than likely, they were just inferts...
