She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

:thumbsup   :weee

So another week on the ducklings, or did you set them sooner?
Last time I hatched both chicks and ducks together, the ducks were a day or two after.

One more week. I set them all the same day. But that's okay. I am super excited!!

I have never dealt with shipped eggs, but many here have, so they can give you better help than I can.
What type of incubator?

Why is that all you care about??? :smack

:frow

I agree with Walnut, do not set any seepers... if there is any discoloration around the crack that's seepage...

I've set a just barely cracked shipped egg and had it hatch, but membrane was never compromised... go with your gut...

Honestly, I have never gotten a full roller to develop, much less hatch... if you have the space and it's not seeping you can try it, just don't get your hopes up for it...

Let them settle a min of 6 hrs, if they're really fresh, 24... and jiggly is spot on description of those air cells... I only leave them no more than 24 hrs before at least gently tilting 3x per day after that... longer of no turning seems to cause more damage than help... just my opinion though... go with what feels best for you... :)

I do shipped eggs all the time. I think I just had my best hatch rate at 100%!!!! ;)

Are you saying (sorry, the typo "...on the incubator" is confusing me... if it is a typo) that you would REST them outside the 'bator until tomorrow AM (as you did), and then put them into the incubator and start turning THEN (as in tomorrow morning)? Or are you suggesting resting until tomorrow AM and then incubating tomorrow and then turning after 24 hours? :idunno

I plan to turn by hand and have them in cartons that whole incubation: we'll see about lockdown when we come to that point.

Once the eggs arrive don't immediately set them. They need to rest for a minimum of 8 hours if not longer with wobbly air cells. After then have rested and the yolks have settled then you can set them but do not turn on the turner or if you manually turn don't turn for 3 to 5 days. This will help the air cell position correctly. I would recommend using egg cartons so the air cells stay at the wide end of the egg. After that 3 to 5 day of no turning then start the turning process 3x or more. If any air cells seem wobbly still when it close to hatch time use the egg carton again to the chick can pip into that air cell. Let me know if you have any other questions!! ;) Good luck!

Aaaahhhhh!!!!!! That's terrible!!! :hugs :hit

I would have come up with something more lascivious :smack

Ooooo look at you using big words! ;) :lau
