She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

You two are both awesome, I love your humorous banter, your obvious respect for each other, and your encouragement to each of us to find what works *for us* rather than just blindly follow whatever anyone else is doing.

Thanks in large part to Amy's informative posts, my first experience with my ratty old styrofoam incubator (found out back in a neglected shed) was a rousing success. Thanks to scflock's timely reminders that chicks can safely hang out in there for a while, I was able to relax enough to go to sleep with 4 pipped eggs... and wake up to three newly hatched chicks and one starting to zip the next morning.

While I can only dream of the ease and worry-free experience of hatching with a brinsea, because I know what to watch out for, I'm saving a ton of money using what I already have on hand!

Maybe if Batch 2 incubating now goes well, I can sell some and add to my "Brinsea Dream Fund." :jumpy
I like this* dream fund* system I can relate and no Im not *getting in* on the contest as im not ready to lay yet

Up until about page 50, then we get a little off track...

It does get a little wierd sometimes, mostly my fault

, but whenever the talk gets serious, this thread has a great group of people with a lot of different experiences. Don't let the insanity scare you away

My wife has the most severe phobia of snakes I have ever seen. Seriously, I had never seen a true phobia until I saw her see a snake for the first time. You should have seen her when I showed her what I pulled out of the silkie pen
You're so mean...lol I took my cousin off my fb because she was ranting (apparently someone posted a pic of a snake, wasn't me that time) saying that if any of her friends post pics of snakes she would remove them from her friends list. After making it explicitly clear that I will post what I want on my own page I removed her...lol I don't think we've ever had words before....lol My mom was scared to death of snakes. As a kid I'd catch them and go running in the house with my latest find just to show her...lol I have no real fear of any animal, but I highly dislike spiders and not found of insects in general.

Surprisingly I'm not as afraid of snakes as I am of mice. A mouse got into my tree stand while I was hunting last fall. I couldn't stay in there with it. Hubby just laughed and said it wouldn't hurt me. I couldn't hunt that stand the rest of the season! It will be mice proof before I get back in it.
But mice are sooooo cute!! I've had mice, rats, frogs, a hedgehog, my box turtle (had her for 22 years),a second box turtle and a snapper, hamsters, guinea pigs, parakeets, cats, dogs, fish, hermit crab, salamander, and now chickens.... I think that's about it. I'm not worried about my son wanting something that I am dead set against. As long as we could afford it and are in a place where we could have it, I would love for him to experience care and raising of different animals so that he himself does not have a fear of anything, but a respect for them.
I showed my wife a pic my friend sent me of a snake in the nest box. Now I gather all the eggs

I don't know what it is with me and mice! They give me the willies! Spiders don't bother me, snakes are creepy, but eh, no big deal. Hubby hates wasps, so I have to take care of them, they don't attack me, but they do him. It's just the mice that I can't stand!!
