I got 2 white silkies Sunday. The guy thought they were both female, but after I got to looking, I'm convinced I got a roo and a hen. They are (he said) about 12 weeks old. He had so many friggin chicks, I felt bad for the little silkies. Now I'm thinking once I move the comets and lav orps to my farm, I'm gonna keep silkies and banties at my house. Looking for hatching eggs already lol
 
I kind of am not sure how to approach lock down ... day 17 .... any advice would be great !!!! I am on my first hatch and I think I ran too much humidity during the first 2 weeks. I went to a swap meet last weekend and a person there told she runs a dry incubator. I am in northern CA.The air cell is still not much more then a what it should be at about 10 day incubation. Any advice on trying to save these eggs ???

What was your humidity for the first 2 weeks? What type of incubator? How were your temps throughout the process?

I am using a TurnX and the humidity was running about 50 to 55%. The temperiture has been running about 99.5 to 100. I am hoping I am not going to drown these babies. The eggs are Marans and one call duck egg. The eggs look dark so a little hard to read them, but I think alive, but I can see the duck is still alive and well.

Call ducks usually hatch around day 26, chickens around day 21, so are these all on the same day, or did you add the duck egg earlier? 50-55% is usually way too high humidity, unless you are in a very dry environment. That's why your air cells are too small. I don't know anything about the TurnX... can you remove water from it? If you could lower the humidity as far as possible for a couple of days, then check the air cells again, you should see some improvement. Day 17 is a bit late for big adjustments, but it can still work. You could also delay lockdown for a day, depending on what you see when you candle again.
