Hi there!!I just completed a hatch. 16 live chicks from 22 fertile eggs. 2 hatched but died ,four died before hatching. The first ones hatched on day 20, the rest the next couple of days. I discarded the last 4 at day 25. A friend gave me a used incubator, it has a fan, but the Styrofoam on the bottom was in rough shape, so I had to add a water reservoir. I bought an egg turner,. I am a meddler, I candled at 14 days and discarded 8 infertile eggs. I didn't really "lock down" When pipping started I had to watch LOL. I pulled chicks out when they were clear of the shell and partly dry. They are all mutts from my mixed flock , will be interesting to see how they feather out, and how many hens vs roos I get. Incubator is filled up again <G>
