She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

Amy-
I haven't measured cells or even candles yet. Being my 3rd hatch, I'm just following @scflocks's advice: leave em, they'll be fine.
It's only day 4/2. Going out of town fri-sun.
I didn't measure cells during the other incubations either. Too much trouble.

Hands off and not candling is fine if that's what you are comfortable with, but if you are questioning your humidity, that's the best way to find out which way it needs to go or if you need to be lower than what you are. But, ya, day 4 is a little early to even check even if you are a candler. You don't see anything significant with air cells until day 7.

ok I'm here I guess I'm the only one who got a work call at 3pm and had to drive 30 miles to take care of something that no one else could do this fountain was wrapped with plastic and the homeowner said I was the only one who could take it off
is that stupid or what o well paid time from home and back I don't know why the stone masons couldn't do it Amy I know how you feel I'm beat and still have lockdown this weeks eggs I want cake to it's only about 900 miles or so run it down if you don't mind.
I'll get right on that...lol Oh Wait, the cake is my niece's.....lol

Um, I don't know that song. Probably too young to

Since you can't give me some pie, would you be so kind as to PM me the recipe? Cause I'm dying for it now. It looked so yumalicious
Only an awesome country song!

I will try and pm you tomorrow. It is an old recipe. Also look up Dimond rio " meet in the middle" good solid country music right there
Dimaond Rio is awesome.

I am not well versed on the whole bator thing I let my girls do the work. I am of the hands off opinion but you may have to intervene with it being a twin the problem I see is that it may take longer to be fully developed as it was a twin. Maybe someone with more knowledge can help. I know everyone else thought it was a goner so what do u have to lose. If u help and it lives u saved it if u help and it doesn't that's about what most expected.
Twin chicks seldom ever make it and those that do usually need assistance from the egg. There's a decent youtube video of an assisted hatch of "twins" chicks.

You think I wasn't thinking it when I wrote it? Just be glad I said chickens. I could have said roosters and been suggestive, or I could have said something else and totally blown it out of the water

Was there ever any doubt?

You have to stick around for a bit when you show up, because it will take me a while to put it together

I know I asked this question on day 7 but I have to ask again, now day 15. I weighed my eggs last night. According to the weight measurements I am really losing to much weight. I'm at 11.8%. It supposed to be 8.6%. For those that don't weigh and just go by air cell size, what would you do with this information?? Disregard it? Add some humidity? I don't know what to do!!!

The results of the bantam hatch (I went back to the farm I got the eggs from, she has one hen that is part cochin, several Black Japanese, and several Silver Duckwing OEG). All of those displayed in the hatch.

The results of the Easter Egger hatch also showed the parentage. Those are a little easier, as I have only two hens and two roos, both of which are themselves mixed breeds. The babies are a clear cross of both hens and both roosters, with some showing feathered feet.

I'll try to get them out for better photos later. There are some really pretty auburns, and one of the black bantams has a brown head.

So, you are going to have feather footed EEs? That would be awesome

Those are some mighty fine looking chicks. How many did you end up with total?

I don't weigh, I go strictly by my air cells so I don't have conflicting info lol. If you are more comfortable upping the humidity do it. I am comfortable with going with the air cells. To me, that is important because that's where they pip and if it's not there or too small you run into problems. You could higher your humidity to even out the weight and then if you feel the air cells are a bit small when you go into lockdown you could hatch upright in cartons.

I ended up with 8 bantams out of 11 went to lockdown, and 8 EE out of 15 that went to lockdown without candling. I did have four fail to hatch out of old eggs, and the one that did was a sticky mess.

I had an earlier hatch of feather footed EE, they are now 8 weeks old and very pretty. I'll get some new pics up.

They are nice looking. A couple of those chipmunk stripes are really distinguished.

I would love to see pics of those. I'm already trying to figure out a way to sneak Tate into the EE pen for a few days

I love the little chipmunk looking ones!! I want them! :)

Thank you for responding. When I started the batch I wanted to do weights. I almost thought about NOT weighing them last night, but I wanted to see it through this hatch. This will be the last hatch I do weighing. Like you said, to much conflicting info!! I think I will add a couple drops of water. I have toothpaste caps in there. I hate that I'm so torn. I get so emotionally invested in my eggs. Watching them grow and then rooting for them to pull through. By the way, happy lockdown!!! :)
