I thought it was the Hollies?Totally ignored my Beatles reference?
I guess I'll throw in my two cents since Amy isn't here yet. Your humidities didn't look too far off from what I run. A little higher early on, a lot lower on the last few days, but I think we have figured out the Brinsea doesn't like the lower humidities. I didn't follow your hatch in the HAL, so I'm not sure when you are losing your chicks. Are they making it to lockdown, then not hatching? I saw that you have 1 rooster over 20 something hens, and that's spreading him pretty thin, but you are losing fertile eggs? And now you're having them die after the hatch? Are you certain it's not a flock issue? I think if you let Amy guide you through one in the styrofoam you may have a better shot. When the Brinsea gets here, it really is amazingly simple to use. You're going to be in heaven when you fire that thing up, assuming your main flock is healthy
I was going to let it go.I thought it was the Hollies?

I was just wondering about the health of your breeder flock. Have you ever incubated eggs from them before? Do broody hens ever hatch their own eggs? I have never had an egg pop, but it happens. Amy had one come close. My first incubation in styrofoam was a disaster, so much so that I never tried again. I can imagine how frustrating it is to have that happen twice. I know people are sick of hearing me say it, but that 40EX is going to be so much more enjoyable. I rarely even look at my incubator. I don't have the pump, so all I do is add water a few times, lock it down, and take the chicks out. All but one of my hatches have been 85%+, but like I said, Amy is consistently over 90% in styrofoam, so it can be doneI admit I kinda screwed up if I was following Amy's dry hatch, no doubt about that. I culled 7/41 during the incubation, all before day 14, as infertile. But I believed the rest were active, but I wish I could see further into the egg beyond the air sack. I believed I went into day 18 with 34 viable eggs...and 12 never did anything. So, I either killed them, or they were infertile. I inspected 2 on day 23, one "popped" and stunk, the other was a perfectly normal looking chick in the right position...who just never pipped. I got discouraged and didn't check the other 10 unhatched eggs.
I don't know what a "flock issue" is...could you explain?
Now Rush...I love Queen, but I loved Bowie long before that, and Rush long before that...

That is one of my favorite bands of all time
If you found a 40EX for $500, you'd better jump all over it
