She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

Aww she's a cutie :) I love the royal palms but they aren't very rare. I'm gonna focus on primarily rare fowl if possible. Why I'm gonna focus on the Swede ducks and not the Rouens. Plan on keeping my Atleast one of my Rouen hens though simply because they love to go broody lol I have my Pilgrim geese pair and want to add a rare turkey breed and possibly a rare, meaty chicken. Wish Brahmas were rarer but I'll prolly sneak one or two pullets in there with the rare chickens :p

Just got the coop up today! I've been looking at and brainstorming run options all day. Thank you for the link. Do they ship? It looked more like a "local" deal.

I think it's a great option but as someone stated before, I could only do it if the bird was anesthetized. People used to consider the meat to be a delicacy. No testosterone...so the meat is not tough. But I read about these gas balls, or air bubbles that come up under the skin after you close the incision and you have to keep popping them...that part grosses me out!

Ruby, I have no idea who that company is, I merely wanted to find a link to a picture of the product I bought 14 years ago as pool fencing. You'd have to find a name for it and then look for someone nearer to you.

It died in the shell. It's beak was covered by the membranes and it must have suffocated. It was very sad. Only 3 left out of the 4. Hoping they make it. Don't know if I will do shipped eggs again.
OH NO!!!!!!! I am so sorry. I had some die that way before and were doing well! I was so heart broken.

7 hatched. 2 zipping. 1 more piped. 10 out of 14 would be great. I'm confident the incubator is tuned in now.
Just Keep zipping!!! Just keep zipping!!!

Not for me yet. I'm still waiting for eggs to set.
Its going to be happening all around!!!! I go into lockdown in 1 week!!!!

Well thanks hon. I'm quite proud of my cheap homemade little hot box :) Trying to decide exactly what turkeys I want lol I was thinking jersey buff cause I want to have all rare fowl if possible. I'm big on conservation
That's great it turned out well so far.

Sorry for the quick updates. I'm on my anniversary date weekend and getting updates from my daughter. 9 hatched and 2 more zipping out of 14 shipped eggs. I feel so blessed!
Congrats on Anniversary!!!! and again Just keep zipping! Just keep zipping!!!

Beautiful color! I am in love!

Well I fear I may never go on vacation again. I got the most tragic call this morning every single one of my baby chicks were found dead. They apparently drowned. Day 2 away from home and I lost another 10. This is the roughest time I think I have ever had. I am going to pull my hair out I'm so stressed. I knew I should have smuggled the little ones in the car with me. I know you cant save them all but if I was home I could have at least brought them inside out of the rain. So next time find a crazzy chicken person to babysit them. Then i know they will be right on top of things and worry as much as I do.
Sorry for my rant had to get it off my chest.

Rant away, that's horrible news and we all care about our peeps!

I worry every time I go on vacation that I'll get a call like yours. I'm so sorry!

We all share the same fears, and I am sorry it happened to you. But don't swear off future vacations, just try to plan a little differently next time. Were they broody babies or incubator babies? How old were they? I keep mine in the house until they are a couple of weeks old just to avoid crazy things like that.

Well, on a ride out in the countryside today I came across a community garage sale and scored some goodies.

I did pass on a medium pet carrier for $3 and now wish I had bought it, but I did come home with:

2 light duty two wire extension cords @ $0.50 each for use in my future hatcher
1 Targus laptop cooler (USB powered with two fans) @ $2.00 for my hatcher
A box of electrostatic register filters for my incubator @ $1.00 for a dozen.
There was a kitchen base cabinet that would have worked for my incubator but it was particle board, and I hate that stuff like you would not believe. I'd love to find an ugly old birch ply 24" cabinet to repurpose.
