Hm. Never used an Android. My family are Apple users completely. On my iPod on the Safari app, I slide my finger down and the website/search bar thing appears, and there's a little arrow in a circle I can touch. It usually saves my place, too, which is good because I have it set to show 50 posts per page.

How old will these roos be when they get the "knock on the head" and what do you do with them. I know Grant Brererton (breeder and poultry writer) would give some roos to someone that raised Ferrets. Not a bad idea. I'm raising mine for the stew pot if I don't sell them.

They will be 3-6 months old when I decide what sex they are. Polish are a pain to sex. The other half does the knocking in the head for me with a cosh type thing that he uses when he out shooting for any birds that might only get winged. They are then used as fox bait by my other half. He puts them out and waits for the fox to come. Bang another fox bites the dust. We have lots around us. Far too many and often very poor quality
Of life they have. So no wonder they are after my chickens.

Sweet new digs! Are the boxes for dust bathing or are they for composting/kitchen scraps? Great looking setup.

Thanks! The boxes are dust bathing. I have top soil play sand and DE earth in them for them. They love them even more when I top them up with fresh soil.

Wow, that is beautiful! And I love the pink. And the stone floor... how do they like that? Mine "was" nice green grass, but they have almost obliterated it in a few short months! Stone would be awesome in my book!

Thanks! They don't mind it all. I did have them on grass and the like but they turned it into a mud bath and it was awful. It's easy clean too. Just scrape the poop up and get the hose in, brush down and it's good to go. Would recommend a hard standing for birds.

I'm saving right now for $80 worth of laying chicks. I got all the money I needed from selling eggs and chickens. (That's why I sold my brahmas). It does indeed make one appreciate things when one is having to pay for them! I bought my own iPod and chickens and I act like a broody hen over them

Good luck to the kid! I was 12 when I got my first chicks to call my own (the brahmas, actually), and they certainly taught me responsibility.

Beautiful setup! I absolutely love it! When I move someday and have my own property, I'd like to have something just like that!

I know you are in Ontario, but B.C. exempts activities performed on animals by their owners, and caponizing by name, from inclusion as activities required to be performed by a licensed veterinarian.

I've no desire to advertise capons, I'd be happy to keep customers happy with plump meat birds that cost me a little less (food-wise) and cause me less problems. My only fear is the speed at which I am ramping stuff up...so many things in such a short period of time...

...but at least their all good ideas that will pay off eventually.

So, an observation I've made I would like others to comment on.

During week 3, chicks click into the idea of just eating because they're bored. My 3 Musketeers have gone from one half bowl per day, to 2 full bowls a day...
