In happier news, I just finished chick-proofing Damien's old pen and am about to move the Ameraucanas from the brooder

Yes, with signature is the info with all the birds people have or whatever they feel like putting in their signature. You can change that by going to your profile. I always put paper towels at lockdown. I always leave them moist to help keep humidity up and plus mine leaks from the water wells so I use we sponges on the paper towels. It hold humidity pretty well for not having water in the wells. And it makes for easier clean up.Its so nice to have the advertisements turned off...pages load so much faster now.
How do I put that line across the bottom of my posts with some information below it that others have? Is that the "signature"?
My Styrofoam bator goes into lockdown today. I actually bumped the humidity up to 65% yesterday as I was worried I had run it a little too dry (weight lose as above ideal). The bator has this wire mesh floor that keeps the chicks from tripping on the water wells, but its a pain to clean after hatch as stuff has been baked onto it. I am going to put paper towels over it and then lay the eggs on top. Anyone see any reason this is a bad idea?
Nice!!! My hubby had to save some baby blue birds because there were two snakes after them. He caught them and relocated them after one had bit him in the chest twice....he did not even realize he was bit until he saw the blood! LoL!!!
I will be buying hardware cloth todayThat's one of the main reasons I used insect netting instead of chook netting on my coop.
I would not because of spread of disease. Ours are in the front of the house and our coops are in the backyard.Quick question: any reasons to NOT keep wild bird feeders/bird baths near chicken cool & run?

One possible reason I know of is that wild birds often carry diseases that chickens can catch, and that would increase the possibility of infection
Mine starter a good couple months before my hens started laying. My rooster started mating my pullets a day or two before first egg from them so soon I guess. I don't see how that question is a different topic that the people you thought were guys are teen girls and those you thought were F are old men
Did I miss sosmething?? Where did transgender come into anything?Ok, you folks need to reel it back a bit...I did not intend on calling out transgendered Walnut into stating a preference...wow, you folks will run away with stuff like a chicken does...omg. I mean, transgendered is as good as any other role in a family finally in the U.S...but lets not talk human rights cause ppl would think its politics. IAE, Walnut (good name for a female oriented partner, equally good name for a male oriented partner) has awesome knowledge, great skills at actually using them, and even better skills at teaching them to others, so TY!
As if I wouldn't have if I had the chance....Its really hard to get to, and really hard to stay there...you really shoulda done it before now...I know, I tried...
I would go for 36Nice post. I believe you are right walnut would be a good father mother or partner for anyone.
I would like to know if people think I am close to silkie cuddles age or older than thier parents or somewhere else.
BYC- my humidity is at 30% after 48hrs. I haven't changed or added any more of the charcoal/carbon yet. I'm going to empty the cup and put fresh stuff in tomorrow morning. Very pleased with how much better the air cells are looking. Clean, defined lines and some nice growth. Can't believe how much better they look after only 48hrs with low humidity. I'm waiting to lockdown until I see an internal pip. Wish I had found it sooner. I do not like the way higher humidity makes the eggs look, no good.
Thank you for saying the obvious...because I am terrible with geography. And didnt want to have to pretend I had a clue as to where he was talking about!![]()
I love that BYC brings people from everywhere together because we all have a common interest. I forget sometimes how small the US is and how big the world is! I like the picture of your chickens!![]()
THINK???? That there will win ya friends! I'd be offended, but I wouldn't want SC's idea of me fueled!I really feel bad about my post about someone's gender, I really wish I hadn't...but at the same time, there's really something to be said about revealing who is of what gender...I know I will be surprised, and I think it could really be empowering. Ok, so we all think Amy is F, and SC is M...and I'm clearly a dumb M...and Ruby is clearly an amazing F...but their are lots of others who haven't wanted to state. I get that, not trying to get anyone date requests from guys with useless flocks.
I really didn't intend to bring up the gender issue, but its clear I screwed up, and if you don't state your gender but state what you've experienced, is there an opportunity here to give more insight into who farms? Or should I let my paux faux lie on the ground??
That is very true now. LOL Oh just complicate things for me...lolCareful assuming "my wife" or "my husband" means someone is the opposite gendernot the case here but just sayin![]()
You people are hard to keep up with! But very entertaining!!
