You remind me very much of a good friend of mine I rarely get to see. He's a Detroit cop, warped sense of humor, big redneck kind of guy, a real softie on the inside, and a whole lot of fun always.

Nah, you're right. Here is my serious explanation:
I joke about the addictions of my family, but it's true. I also have an addictive personality, but have found less destructive outlets for it. Humor is the #1 culprit, and a forum like this just allows me to be an amplified version of myself. I love making people laugh. I also enjoy picking on people, especially when they can take the joke and give it back. There's a lot of people on this thread that allow me to do that. The addictive part is not being able to get up and walk away. It's like catching a countdown show that is only down to #13. I have to watch and see what's next. I also love talking chickens, so I love that we can all turn on a dime when a serious question is posted.
