We sell around 1500 Guinea Keats each year. When breeding for show you will be lucky to get 10% keepers for show. Some of the breeds you have to keep what we call breeder quality Fowl. Because we breed two show quality birds together does not mean you will get good Fowl. With breeding any kind of show fowl it is all averages.

Sorry, am on a cell phone today, several posts came in while I was typing. May not have been synced up.

That's what I get for trying to be helpful!

I did not mean it to be rude. I am thankful you got to it so she wasn't waiting for an explanation.

Hey you two! Cut it out! :gig

I think we all need another party Friday night. Is there a full moon, weird stuff keeps happening!

Agreed!!!!! Tomorrow night!!!???
What really hurts is the fact that ross had to say it :gig

I'm send you a gesture with my hand!
Who invited you?  :gig

Seriously? Who did? :lau

SC you locking down today?

Yeah...curious?

A question for the blue team - What is the range you like the humidity to be prior to lockdown?
I'm at 5,000 ft elevation so I go a little higher in styro, about 40% to 47%. I have read that it helps the oxygen transfer from the outside to inside the egg. That's just me though.

Your parameters are very similar to mine, but I'm only hatching 24

.
I can't imagine hatching on that scale, but I can see how I could get to that point. Are you hatching with a specific goal percentage of keepers in mind, or are you just getting as many feet on the ground as you can to cull from. Another question that I have always wanted to ask you is about your culling. Is a cull an automatic kill, or will you sell less desireable birds? Does the severity of the fault determine sell vs. kill?
Great question.

That's double breeding right? Do you have to do a double breeding for every breed or are their certain breeds or colors that you don't really need to? It's probably more common with patterned birds I would suppose.

I have so much to learn, you've seen that. I appreciate you joining the thread and opening up a little. I have always valued your opinion, and appreciated the bluntness of your answers, but it's fun getting to learn a little about you

Good day to be sentimental

Sorry, Amy

Because of my exchanges with you and the whole discovering the elevation differences, now when I attempt to help someone and I'm talking about low incubation methods I always try to remember to specify "if you are not in a high elevation." It's great that we can learn from each other and use what we learn to help others.
I can see the gesture from here SC..... Looks like she's saying your #1........ oh, nope. that's not the index finger. Nevermind.
