That's what got me started!!!! Go for it!Real breeders are so hard to find! Inspires me, actually. Think I might shoot to become one some day.
So. Hard.
Oh no!!!!! I am so sorry...I am dreading the day that happens....I have a hawk fly over every time I let mine out to free range no more than 10 minutes later I see that dang hawk.Had to cull one of my big girls today. Hawk got her. If I'd gone out when the crows first started their ruckus, I might have been able to save her. She had too many wounds for it to be practical to stitch her back together. If she hadn't had the perforated crop, I'd have tried to save her. She was active and feisty right up to the end. This is my first predator loss. (other than a dog many years ago.)

Welcome!!!! What kind of incubator do you have??? Still air forced air....?Well Im a first timer here…Set my 24 eggs in a Janoel 24 on Friday night, 7/31( it was actually 1:30am on Aug 1)…Temperature has been rather easy to regulate and keep steady after the first day, however the humidity fluctuates a lot - lowest at 22% and highest at about 55%. The exact amount of water I am putting is half the squirt bottle in one of the channels of the bottom tray.
Any suggestions as to how to better achieve a more consistent humidity?
Have 12 Buff Orpingtons eggs and 12 high noon leiper eggs in there…Hoping for the best…...
I just posted!!! LoL!!Anyone on here think they could give me a hand?

Unfortunately the one I have....LG 9300 Still Air...I still get a decent hatch sometimes....Which one is the "death trap"? I would like to keep the price tag under $100. A broody duck would probably work better but I dont have one![]()

I just had to do this with my CCL Roo....stupid teenager....thinks he knows it all...attacked me 3xs and I every time I beat him down to the ground then picked him up by his feet and let him hang there for a bit.....after the 3rd time he ran into the coop and did not come out...he would peek around the opening and see me and hide his face. You know what would fix them? Take them out to the pen, turn them around where they can see all the others, thenthe crap out of them![]()

I'm sorry, I still have issues because of the one that screamed when I didn't know it was there![]()

Why yes yes he is.......

Just wait it out...if you dont see any red blood in the membranes then you can start to peel it back but I would wait until all the blood recedes into the body and that way you know the yolk is fully absorbed. Let me know what you see and what happens. Make sure to keep them warm and wrapped in a paper towel.Bad news on my hatch and it's all my fault unfortunately. I thought SC and I had set about the same time so I figured my hatch was way overdue. SC's are already out and signed up for preschool. Without counting the days (or hours) I just figured it was over and went to eggtopsy to see what was wrong with the chicks, find out what stage they passed at, and find out what color would result from a Marans over my RSL.
I cracked the big air cell end open a little on each one. I check the one I thought died a week ago. Sure enough it stunk like crazy.
I open the next one. Peel back the membrane a bit. Chick is breathing!Look at the other one. Chick is breathing.![]()

Now I stop to think about the real date I set and how many days it's been. I'm at the end of day 21. Idiot! I should have given them a few more days. Now I'm fullon red team on these suckers. Not because I'm a meddler, but because I caused the problem for them. Every time I tried to peel back a little membrane I got red blood. Not gushing or flowing, but definitely red blood.
Leave them? I can't. Now they are drying out. I wrapped them in wet paper towel this morning. They were both peeping. I'm pretty sure they were saying something like "you murdered us!". One even pipped the shell last night below the point that I broke the big end off. I will have to check after work and hope for the best.
I leave them in and they probably die shrink wrapped from me opening the shell. I try to help them out and they bleed to death.![]()
What can I do for them?
Silver lining. I went into lockdown with two viable eggs and they were probably both going to hatch just fine so my incubator is still working well.
Exactly what all a holes say.
.....saw his post about being busy but yes I am interested as well. IF he has any late ones that live..... I will take them if he does not want them. I have a soft heart for the specials.Did SC gove a run down off the eggtopsies and I missed it or did we just not do them?

No crying here Mr. heartless blue!![]()
But then you have to mention DIS chicks, or worse than that, still alive overdue chicks!! so you make me feel bad. So since I'm purple....for luck tonight.![]()
Give them to me!!!!!!!If they are still alive, that will be the dark side of blue. It's day 24. I don't want them to hatch

YAY!!!!! Try and get some sleep!Update 3rd egg pippedlong night ahead![]()
