For Mareks just vaccinate the chicks and leave the adults. When you do fowl pox do them all. It is supposed to be spread by Mosquitos, but I live in the Cold north and it usually happens here in winter.

Does anyone remember that egg temp chart, that I think Sidewing posted awhile back? If anyone has it can they send me a link, please?
I'm on my phone so I can see siggies. I'll check it out too, on the big computer.

Here's the little guy this morning. He's doing great! Eating & drinking on his own. No splayed legs. Looks healthy. He took that first poop that they do after hatching. Which confirms my theory that he was the last to hatch and just couldn't keep up. I'll return him to mama this evening. Just want to make sure he's strong enough the keep up with 10 siblings!

Friday night started with the BYC comedy show, everyone's chicks died, WV is getting sebrights for the real incubator, Don gave a class, but it was 6 hours late and 5 minutes long, coons are bad mmmkay, only BR and WV can hug me, have a heart traps are great for target practice, girls have new brooders but no pics, Walnut is packing heat on the bike, pink flamingos don't annoy the neighbors, you can't hatch chicks in Japan, Ravyn won't shut up about her Ameraucanas, Ross is downy around the head, AmyPaperlady is ungrateful, silkie was introduced to the fascinating world of sexing androgynous birds, WV and Friday are drinking again, my roosters took bronze in Calgary but lost the medal due to juicing, car alarms are racist, and Scottish Teddy bears drop their eggs![]()
i'm pretty sure she understands![]()
Pullet.... No wait, Roo... Nah, pullet.![]()
Back in class, Some had asked what I vaccinate my fowl for when I do. Nothing can be on my farm unless it has been vaccinated for Mareks. This has to be done as they come out of the Incubator. The vaccinate will last at most two hours after mixing.
I vaccinate for Fowl pox in the fall of the year.
I vaccinate for LT here in the north as it will wipe you out
I delouse and worm my adults on a three month interval. For worms I use Valbazen liquid and Super XLR ivomec for mites and this is applied with a small brush and it is 6 parts water to one part wormer. The Valbazen is also watered down and applied through the mouth.
You're insight and experience is very much appreciated, Don...
Any input on how to handle having older fowl that're unvaccinated and wanting to vaccinate chicks? Will any vaccines cause issues with older birds? And your opinion on vaccinating older birds is appreciated, yes or leave them be?
Better be careful where you click... "High Fashion" often takes things to a whole other level.
OK tomorrow night is lockdown. There are 10 B/B/S Amer, 7 BCMS and 9 F1 OEs (blue egg - Marans x Amer). 26 eggs in total, I'm skeptical about 3 of the blue eggs. It's going to be tight in there. This is the first time I've had OEs in the same group. I'm not sure I will be able to identify the chicks after they hatch. Any ideas how I can separate them?
