Seems we have come to a standstill at 11 chicks. I will let it run until tomorrow morning, then set again. All are very healthy, active, and the same size. I think the lower humidity did the trick. I'll put a couple pics in another post

Heading out to the poultry swap in a bit. Hope I can find a companion for Solo. Anyways, it will be fun to see what people are bringing. I've heard there's going to be crested ducks and bobwhite quail.

One of my new little ameraucana has a problem. I am suspecting wry neck. She looks like she has a tick, she walks around in circles and twitches her head. They have vitamins in the water and I just gave her a few drops of nutri drench. Do I need to do any thing else?

I like to give egg yolk. It has natural selenium and other vitamins. Just hard boiled egg yolk crumbles or a soup made of crumbled egg yolk and vitamin water.

Mine was my first hatch and I think the temps were .5 to a degree lower than it should have been. So I probably killed off all the boys. I read something about low temps producing girls.

I have read that is a myth. U honestly can't remember where but I have.

I've got a RIR on day 27; nothing yet.
Don't know if incubation for whatever you have is different, but it's 21 days for RIR's

Average is 21 days for all chickens except for bantams...then it normally day 18 to 20.

No point candling them now. It not in the shell anymore.

Those Marans eggs are so pretty.  I think one day we will have Marans and olive eggers, or maybe some crested cream legbar or both to get a display like you got going there.

I've heard good things.    Incutherm from incubator warehouse gets good reviews. 

I have one but my hydrometer acts up....it's not functioning properly.

Little cream colored square digital one? If so, yep, it's off... had one and it worked great... for 2 months... hygrometer crapped out on it bigtime and I wouldn't have trusted the temp either...

I'm feeling that's what happened to mine. Going to find another one.
