She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

Can you elaborate?  You lift out the entire tray and turn it completely around?

I will share since i have a Brinsea now too, i can see from the side and i left em in the tray. Tray in the bator just removed the lid, only took like 10 minutes to get all my info written down. i Need the info, i HAVE to see the math. Just manipulated the light around them but then i have Super clear easy to candle white duck eggs and that make a huge difference... I love looking in em cuz theyre SO clear :)

When I candle, that's how I do it. So easy to just candle them in the tray

I have a question, when you weigh eggs what should the weight's be on the days you do it? I have a postal scale so I was thinking about doing that. I've heard people talk about weighing to check development so I'm curious.

A good point, i listen to SC there as he had already reccomended that we rotate the egg tray. I switch my trays around just like he descibed every other day.

I still dont kiss em or tell em how much i love em ;)

Hey ya!

The weights arent suposed to be an exact # BuT the weight loss percentage is suposed to be in line with whats expected for the species. I think chicken eggs are about 14%

In all honesty, this may work better for you this time, when you consider all the issues you've had.  So if you want to try it that way... go for it!   Yes, I will seriously be heartbroken if mine all crap out this week, because I do know how well they are all doing now.  So its all in how you look at it.  I still want you to have a wonderful hatch, so do what works for you!

Thank you! I want you to have a great hatch too! My mom was here yesterday when I unpacked the eggs and she saw the look on my face and she knew I was disappointed. So she just called to ask if the air cells settled down and if I got any advice from my "chicken friends". (And yes, she now knows what an air cell is along with a pip and a zip!). I told her that maybe I wouldn't candle them at all or handle them besides turning and just check them at day 18. She says "I know you, Jessica and whoever said that is right...otherwise your just going to be obsessing over something you can't control for 3 weeks". So maybe SC is right on this one. I've got nothing to loose and this last batch was a massive failure. Once I have my own eggs, I plan on trying out everything and anything, just to see if I can get a better hatch. Then hopefully I get to where Amy is and start getting 100%, with my own specific style. But that's why I'm doing this, so come spring I have layers and can narrow down what I want to breed and have a supply of eggs to hatch, whenever I get the itch. Maybe even start a breeding project.
