Well thats interestingThey can't be that bad, can they?![]()
I thought I was the only one that saw it and I was just dying inside.
I just got a newsletter from where I got my meat birds and they are now selling Silkie Broilers! Anyone heard of these? I'm just trying to imagine butchering day in front of the kids. I might as well dress Santa and the Easter Bunny while I'm at it.

I didn't raise them to sell that way, but I have 11 young cockerels that I started feeding butter and Lowry's seasoning saltThey can't be that bad, can they?![]()

Seriously, though, my amigo will be getting all of them next week
You might be selling too cheaply SC. Do you have any fancy restaurants near you? Or a meat processor that might buy them for more and sell to them?I didn't raise them to sell that way, but I have 11 young cockerels that I started feeding butter and Lowry's seasoning salt![]()

Broody hens are no respecter of breed! If you want to let her do her thing, best to wait till she's been sitting day and night for a few days, and then put her where the others can't mess with her nest before giving eggs. (Perhaps you're a pro with broodies!) I just had my first successful broody in about 45 years!I have a EE/Leghorn mix pullet that only started laying about 3 weeks ago. Two days now I go home and she's in a nextbox making veloceraptor noises. I take her and put her on the ground and she just holds the nesting pose.
Can she really be broody!?
When the occasion presents it'self, I nominate Ruby to give the first SSHS pea parade. My multi-quote got eaten by the phone! I hate that...wouldn't go back another page....
