She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

I do already have a list going with several who have PM'd me. I can already see some good and fair swaps! It wont be up to me, I'm not trying to control it, just coordinate it. So those that think their birds aren't good enough, that's bulls&*t. Some are looking just to participate and get some different breeds. No one is asking for perfect quality because we know no one has it to offer. If you want perfection, BUY them somewhere else.

Please PM me if you want on the list. If you want to make personal deals with whoever, that's fine, just keep that between yourselves. When I get a list that I think includes most people who act interested, I'll send it to everyone in one PM (PMs are limited to 9 people though, so I might have to make 2 groups, unless I ask for an exception)
Im waiting to see if and how my BCM grow up (the rest are fine so far) and I'm working on something special for my SLW but it's not set in stone yet.

ETA: I am planning on a AM swap first thing. :)

Mine aren't laying yet, so no need to start a list :D
If I do decide to start shipping eggs next year, I am probably going to look into doing a website, or only selling through BYC. When I advertise my chickens, I take honest pictures and point out the flaws. I will do The same if I start selling eggs. I don't think it's fair to show a dozen of your darkest BCM eggs when that is about 25% of what is laid

I would LOVE some BCM eggs!

Thank you! They are about 6 weeks. Those 3 have big combs and the 1 that I think is the girl has hardly any. She has feathered in much quicker too.
Ooooh, well, you are probably right.... Ugh. Hmmmmm...

I wish I had auto correct...lol Something needs to make me thin.... Pepsi addiction and lack of exercise program doesn't do it! (We won't even discuss my packaged/processed diet...lol)

Anyway..... I agree. I want to pick Ravyn's brain about packing before I tackle it myself if I so ship for the "Thon" . I'm a visual learner so I need step by step pics....lol

I agree, Ravyn should do a photo tutorial!

Yep, we have time to work out details like that.

That's why they call them "saddle cells".  ;)

I think that is more than reasonable. I already made a connection for the ship a thon and offered to pay for the eggs and the shipping. Not that she'll listen.... :smack   I think paying for the shipping is fair seeing as the eggs are being "donated".  It's still an awesome deal to be able to add to your flock and get the experience both in hatching shipped eggs and recieving them.

I always say if you're hands off, go 65% if you are like me, go 75%. I remove my chicks during hatch, clean out the shells and flip pippers back over. If I feel it's needed I will also help. I have never lost a pipper/zipper-yet, knock on wood and thank God.

Amen sister!!  LOL I had a dozen of my green eggs all nice and washed for pick up yesterday, and wanted a pic cause, they are nice and big and good looking.... yeah, I gave up. I don't have a professional camera nor photographic education and could not capture the color for nothing!

I have to switch over to mobile to post pics, but I will in a bit... color is soooo subjective, lol...

I'd love to be part of the ship-a-thon (and the ship-a-thin--these last 5-10 pounds have been lingering for over a year now--the first 20 went much faster...) but I'd definitely have to pay shipping. Of course, my swap with Ravyn comes first, once Frieda goes broody again (I can do supplemental lighting or heating pad brooder in the coop, not both--and I just set up the lights yesterday). Though if anyone needs giant zucchini now, I could certainly send some now and then take eggs later ;) Seriously, my husband just picked about 30 pounds today, and there's at least that much already in the house waiting to be shredded and frozen, and we've probably eaten 40 pounds' worth... Tom replanted some hills that the chickens dug up this spring, and, since I hadn't marked them, I think I know why I'm not seeing as much acorn squash as I could've sworn I'd planted...

Yep, got you for the Marans... say when, lol... and I love zucchini too... :D ;)

My last set was just plucked out of my egg basket.  I did not turn them, or do anything to them, other than choosing the "roundest ones".  It was my best hatch ever, in spite of having high humidity prior to lock down.  I hatched in cartons to compensate for that.

However, if my eggs were going to be more than a week old, I think I'd rotate them, and try to control humidity and temp.

Love how you worded that... :)

You're doing great... I think it's already understood that everyone wants to make sure each person is happy in what the get/send, so think it'll be good... :thumbsup

I will try and get pics tomorrow, I am not sure what I am looking for with the beards. They might be to little to tell yet. Do you have a pic so I can see what I am looking for?

Yes they are about 3 times the size. I have some pics on my phone i will post later. Have to use pc for multi. I think I have 3 boys and 1 girl.

I am really interested in learning how to pack for best results too!

x's 2

Unless they are from Ravyn.

Any look like they don't have beards/muffs? I'll try posting pic soon...

And thanks for the shipping support, just trying to stack odds in favor of the eggs... :)

Id love it if you could give me instructions for packing before the ship-a-thon. Btw, auto-correct always makes it "thin" :barnie
Yes, I think shock absorber is a big part of getting eggs that are not damaged.
Good post! Very informative.

Yeah, he has said quite a few times that he's scared of Friday! Lol!

I wonder of you could make it a separate article and submit it to the learning center. Then people cold refer to it as necessary.

Dunno, never looked into that... is hard since I am 100% phone based, lol...

@chicapee here's what I'm talking about... do they all look like first pic or do some look like second pic?

Mean the fluffy cheeks and under beak, not the black or lav colors, btw... :)

Are calls flighty? I heard that muscovy are. I want some Cayuga but heard they are loud. I wish one of my 2 KC would of been a hen!

I have cayuga and i absolutly love them :) hubby's blue swed is just as loud if not louder than any of our cay hens. My Uncle has pekin and i dont think my ducks are louder than them. Granted this is all taken as: theyre loud if theyre disturbed, and u cant miss feedup by a Minute or theyre screaming for u to Get Out Here This Minute :D
