She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

Love the HRIR's. That's what you are seeing in the photo with the LO. In the last one, there is a RSL. Great egg layers coming up. I have one cockeral in there..hoping the collar will work on him when he gets to crowing.

Do you folks worry about cats?

Not in general, I mean, I know they don't have souls, but are they a legit chicken predator?

I have one living in the fields behind my place. I haven't lost anything yet, but I started wondering about it when my chickens went nuts last weekend when they saw it in our yard hunting mice.

I don't see a lot of stories about cats killing chickens, but it seems most predator attacks I have seen this year are the family dog, or a neighbors.

Thoughts?

I'm pretty sure I lost a 6-8 week old pullet to one when I first got chickens in my current place. I haven't ever worried about a full sized chicken with a cat, but I think the younger stuff would be a great meal.

With me, just assume sarcastic infection

Is there a shot to combat an infection like that?

If a feral cat gets into a pen, it will kill multiple chickens for fun. I treat feral cats the same as any other predator

But if you're nervous about it, sounds like a great reason to SSS one of those soul-less beasts.

My daughters love our cat, much to my dismay.
It kills mice like crazy. I just don't want to triple S it if it's doing a good job.

It used to be domesticated. Sadly the people that we bought the house from left it IN the house. We have kids that are wicked allergic so we couldn't keep it in the house. Now we see it from time to time hunting in the fields.

Yes, we tried to tell the previous owners, but they would not listen to us or the Realtor. Sometimes people make me sad.
