She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

What do I need to do right away?  Her one toe is curling under making it look like there's an extra toe.

Get either a bandaid or some tape that isn't super sticky and place a square larger than the foot under the flat of foot while spreading toes out to normal position... place another square over top of foot and make sure it sticks to other piece in between the toes... this should hold the foot flat out with toes spread... carefully trim the tape around the outside and a little between the toes so it isn't a huge boot...

Very welcome... and Ronott1 emphasized as well it is critical to do this within 1st 2 days, sooner the better... it is easier to fix right after hatching, but after a few days it becomes difficult to impossible to correct... :)

O gees, that is not as easy as I thought. PLUS, a second egg hatched during me trying to hold this tiny squiggly screaming chick and flatten it's foot down.

Hatching pullet eggs comes down to personal preferences... if you understand the difficulties and want to try, then go for it... :) I see a trend of troublemaking pullets named Raven... :gig Actually, I put no gender guesses weighed by how they are willing to chest bump... most of my pullets were the biggest chest bumpers... and my hens rule their flocks, they will smack down a younger cockerel acting hormonal faster than any of my roos will... the roos only intervene if the cockerels won't back down to the girls... Here is my EE hen I hatched pullet eggs from...

And this is their daughter who is now bigger than her mom... this was taken just as she started laying...

And her brother...

Not only were these from pullet eggs, but they were 2 of the 4 from my very first hatch... I set 4 eggs and all 4 hatched... the other 2 were all red cockerels and I gave them to a friend when they were still young...
Trust me, once I finally get eggs it will really be tempting NOT to hatch them. Don't know how long it will be till I cave. Very cool pics!
Ug oh, the little guy has a problem with the leg that was wrapped in membrane. The toes are curling in length wise and he's not putting weight on it. It doesn't appear to be spraddle leg. As soon as I can get a picture I will post.
How long has it been since hatch? Sometimes they hatch that way and flatten out after a couple hours. If not, you've got the advice here. I'll try to post a pic I did last month on a quail chick.
I just found the issue on the chicken chick's web page. Here are pictures she has posted. Looks like I will be doing some splinting as soon as the other two eggs hatch.

Is the chick putting weight on the leg?
Yes, only 3 eggs made it to lock down:( I have a Little Giant 9300. Good to hear you wipe down the condensation. That's what I started doing but am so worried for the two that haven't hatched and what I'm going to do to them. One was active and chirping last night but nothing today. Not even a pip. My incubator humidity reading doesn't match the two hygrometers that I have at egg level. LG 9300 first timer:)
When did you hear the chirping and which eggs? If I don't have a external pip after 24-30 hours, I will make a pip hole for oxygen, if there is an internal pip, I mean. If you have no external pips and your humidity is super high after a hatch, I use the opportunity to check the non-pipped eggs really quick, tap on the air cell and listen for peeping.

So basically, it doesn't really make sense what they wrote, since bourbon red is a type of heritage. I'd like something with white meat (I think most of the fam likes white). And to ask a completely naive question, is the bird based on a price per pound? I think it would be really neat to have a fresh turkey that was raised and killed humanely for thanksgiving.

Heritage turkeys do have white meat, just not as much of it as broad breasted. Think B cup instead of DDD.

Most sellers do sell by either a flat rate based on a size range, or by the pound on actual processed weight. I take reservations using a size range, and charge by the pound at the processed weight. This system works well for me.

I love-love-LOVE the daughter's color and markings, and her brother looks just like the father of a number of my birds but that mine shows a little more cream colored cape and a bit tighter comb!

I forgot to say Lavender Orpingtons. Shipped eggs.

YIKES, humidity has been 65 to 84%. It peaked when this guy hatched. I will aim for 65 now. Would those levels kill the egg that was active yesterday?
So I am going to go ahead and be my normal opinionated self and do some disagreeing.
Yes, I agree condensation is too much humidity and needs to be cut back slightly. BUT if you are going to be "red" and open the bator I would caution against going too low. I have the LG (9200). I have great hatches in it. Mine does have the fan, but I am a meddler. I am full on red at hatch. At day 18 I up my humidity to 75%. At hatch once they start it often goes up to 80-90% No problems. Now, because I do open my bator during hatch it doesn't stay up at 85% or more that long and I do not get condensation build up either. I also remove my chicks as they become active, so that in itself removes some of the "extra moisture".

Here's where I say, I have never lost a pipper/zipper. My last hatch was 100% from lockdown to hatch. I highly believe it is better to run high than low (as long as there is no condensation build up). I personally do not like seeing my bator get to 65%, that is when I start wetting my sponge to get it back to the 75% so that the next time that I open I know I have adequate humidity. My disclaimer: many people hatch at 65%. The majority of those are hands off hatchers to my observations. There are always those that have opposite experiences as well and will always argue their way is the way. My philosophy is, if it works for you, it doesn't matter what anyone else is doing. I actively disagree with a lot of the common ideals of hatching, but I also validate that different things do work for different people.

The LG 9300 is notorious for the display (both temps and humidity) being off.

First hatch this am around 8:30. Second hatch just occurred about 45 mins to an hr. I got the foot taped flat and cut in between the toes but I need to wait until my DH gets home so to trim it up. I'd die if I cut a toe. It is now putting weight on the leg and getting around with the bulky bandage. I only saw one egg rocking and it was chirping yesterday and last night. It was this second one to hatch. Just like the first one this am I never saw a pip or a zip. I will tap on this third egg.
