She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

Gonna be hatching AC's again soon?? Saw you might be over molting now... wish my flocks would finish molting, been a long, slow one this year... :/

I sure am! That little egg is going right in the incubator. I'm gonna wait maybe a day or two to see if I get more to go in with it but if I don't I'll just be tossing some mixed breed eggs in to be its hatch mates.

Still tons of molting going on here in my layer flock, and my poor half blind hen that I'm trying to integrate into the cemani flock is having a horrible molt too. If she keeps going this way she might end up in the worst molt contest. At least the frizzles aren't old enough to molt yet - frizzles have the absolute worst molts.

Sweet!! Would love for you to allow us to follow your hatch, please? I know many here would be interested in your techniques/experiences and the breed itself...

My OH won't allow frizzles, he says they freak him out, lol... our Silkies look awful though... and they can see now!! :gig

Sure! I'd be happy to do that. And happy to get some more info on the breed out there - last week a bunch of people in the What Breed or Gender is This forum tried to call one of the birds from my flock (a cull that I gave to a woman who desperately needed a chick to keep her lone hatchling company) a cross breed :/ They didn't know enough about the breed to make that call, but it really sucked to see my purebred called a crossbreed. He didn't even have any feather color leakage or anything. Not something I would use in my breeding flock, but certainly not a cross.

My silkies aren't looking too rough yet, although my rooster Einstein got caught in the rain the other day and he certainly had feathers matching his namesake's hair after that :P

Don't show your OH this, but here's one of my little juvenile frizzles. Still in need of a name:

Oh, wow!! I am soo sorry!! Yes, more info would be greatly appreciated... I know enough to send others to ones who know, lol, like you... :D ;) but to me the crosses really stand out... AC's have such a unique look...

That's what my Silkies look like now, perpetually rained on Einsteins... :gig

I think that frizzle looks like a Jim... ;) and adorable to boot!!

I think that little one is a pullet (:fl) so maybe Jemima? Lol. The crosses can be wild. The rooster in my avatar is half AC.

In other news, my Brinsea that's currently running out in my coop is doing really well. I didn't know how it would handle fluctuating temperatures between night and day (autumn in Vermont can have some crazy temperature swings) but it's taking it all in stride. The seven eggs I set for Halloween are all trucking along. I do need to add some water since I haven't added any yet during this incubation. I can't wait to see what hatches - with five roosters and a bunch of different breeds of hens out there, who knows what I'm getting! I only know for sure what hen one egg came from. The rest are a surprise.

I realized after I typed that I shoulda said Jamie, lol... but you understood me, lol... :D

Love that rooster, he is gorgeous!!

Glad to hear the Brinsea is performing up to par out in the coop... heard much good about them, but never tried one... can't wait to see the medley of fluffnuggets you hatch out! :)

I like Jamie...Jamie it is!

Medley of fluffnuggets - I love that! My AC cock Raptor keeps jumping his pen and he's the dominant rooster on the property so I'm curious how many will be half AC. Other rooster options are Pretty Boy (the rooster in my avatar), Bowtie (my half AC NN rooster who is Pretty Boy's full brother), Tesoro (my barred half leghorn half buff orp rooster), and Einstein, my silkie rooster. I think that's all of them...lol.

Awesome!! He would choke if he knew... :hide

Only that many roosters?? I refuse to count mine... or the hens... or pullets...
Although most of the cockerels are going this weekend...
Dang, we got a lot of chickens, lol...
